Thoughts on my Final Marquee Design?
« on: October 17, 2007, 02:15:21 pm »
Hi everyone,

Just wanted some opinions on my final design of my marquee before I got it printed.
http://linkedmedia.tripod.com/delusionalarcade/

I also created a matching intro video as well which can be viewed here:

I was going to start the control panel design soon to match the general lightning theme, but was looking for arrow graphics for the joysticks.  Anyone know where I can get them?  Thanks in advance.

I voted great, but that's to balance out the fact that I really think you've done a great job on a style I'm not fond of.  As far as character collage marquee's go it looks really nice.

I like it!  I like the marquees with the characters just because it brings back memories of those old games.  And its interesting to see which characters people use.

Animation is cool, but about 10 seconds too long.

The animation is cool.  How did you create that?  I've done some photoshop but never any kind of video editing.

Awesome intro. But it is a little long. How did you do it?

I'd LOVE to be able to put together a custom intro like that...but I agree...it's about 10 seconds too long.  As soon as your name drops in i'd wait a second or two and then perhaps a lightning strike to blackness.

I knew it was too long but I was in denial.. heh heh, which is why I asked for opinions.  Thanks to all who put me in my place!   ;)  I shortened it to about 15 seconds.  (You can click on the link above to watch the new version.  It made sense to not "fizzle" it out at the end anyway, since this is an INTRO video and not an "ending" video.  So I removed that part and faded it out.

These are the programs used to create it:
1 - Adobe's After Effects (A buddy of mine and I collaborated to create these cool FX)
---- Used this to create the lighting effects of the "Ultra Arcade" words and "light splash" halo effect
---- Used this to create the animation of the steel plate and sparks effect for the "Multiple Arcade Gaming System" text
---- Used this to create the drop down of the word "DeLuSioNaL's" that shakes the Ultra Arcade text
---- Used this to create the "glint" in the DeLuSioNaL's word once it finishes falling
2 - Digital Juice Backdrop (for the blue lightning background)
3 - Sony's Vegas Video
---- Used this to create the "light bulb" effect at the beginning simulating power starting up
---- Used this to edit in sound effects to match the animation
---- Used this to add the final touches:  Remixing audio, fading video, etc.
---- Used this to render out the final format (High Quality WMV at 800 x 600 resolution)

Coincidentally, the font I used is called "Delusion" for the "Ultra Arcade" text.   ;D  I chose it because it looked like light bulbs on a Marquee.

I appreciate the feedback.  Now I need ideas on a Control Panel overlay to match my overall theme.

The new version is perfect. Now after going black at the end, it should go right into an Attract Mode with different games, then after 4 or 5 of those, it should loop back to Intro again.

But man o man that's kewl buddy. :notworthy:
