Help getting/building retainer for monitor plexi
« on: October 16, 2007, 11:15:00 am »
I'm getting close to finishing my cabinet, down to the little details.  I need to come up with some kind of retainer that will hold the monitor plexi in place.  I don't know what was originally on this cabinet, probably something that was attached to the control panel.

Check out the picture below.  The wood piece on the bottom has two levels routed into it.  The first is where the bezel sits in, then the plexi sits in the lower one.  I'm thinking I could just build something out of wood, then use furniture bolts from the back side to hold it in place.  If there is something simpler, please let me know.

Do a search, there are probably dozens of solutions that have been used around here.

That looks like the same midway cabinet I have.  Mine was orginally a blitz cabinet.  There is a metal rounded piece with three slots in it.  On the bottom of that black piece below the monitor there should be three t-nuts that these screw into.  I couldn't find a part number on happ but did find this picture from a different machine manual.  Hope this helps.

I think that is the right piece, but on my cabinet I think it was attached to the control panel.  There are no holes drilled in the piece below the monitor on mine.

You are correct.  Looks like for four player version it's connected to the control panel.  I found this page which is a manual for NBA Showtime cab.  Skip down to page 124 and 125 when the pdf finally loads.  I think that is the bracket you are looking for.

Do you have the original control panel box you are reusing or are you making a new one?  You may be able to get some sheet metal and bend it to fit.  You could also try and heating and air conditioning place and have them bend one for you.
