Can I simply replace my 10" speakers?

I bought a couple of speaker boxes and each have one 10" speaker and one other smaller speaker inside of it.  Not sure what the other speaker is called since I am no way speaker-savy.   Anyway, the psekaers work great and I was planning on putting them in my jukebox which I finally started to build.   Thing is ..... I am wondering what would happen if those 10" old old speakers blow out (ie: the cone bursts).  Can I simply buy a new 10" speaker to replace the current old one?  This way I can keep the speaker boxes which will fit in my jukebox perfectly.  I guess I would like to know whether I will be able to keep the same speakers boxes when the 10" speakers blow out.

you can definitly replace them. you have home stereo speaker boxes?, so im assuming its an 8 ohm system. heres a link http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=290-325 to some inexpensive replacements that will defintly sound good. theres a lot to choose from other than these but for the price the quality cant be beat. IMO.

-whatever speakers you end up finding, just match up the ohm and you'll be fine.(common home stereo is 8ohm)

The ones I have no are just very old but work great.  I just wanted to make sure I could replace the 10" subwoofer speakers if they blow out before integrating my speaker boxes into my jukebox.   Thanks for the information.
