Makeshift holster?
« on: March 16, 2002, 11:17:56 am »
Hey all, I have a psx gun that I think would be cool to mount on the side of my cabinet.  Anyone got any ideas on what I could use as a holster?  I don't want some leather holster, I'm thinking more like just a metal rectangle or something like that.

Yeah, I'm considering this myself.  Although, you could always mount the Happ panel-top holsters on top of a wood block or plastic enclosure that you bolt into the side of your cab.  Or, that's an idea, just get a couple of those black plastic project enclosures from Fry's, the ones with the removable end-panels, uncover one end, then bolt the whole thing to the side and use it as our holster!

There's nothing on the Fry's website to look at.  Just go to Radio Shack and ask for project enclosures.  They should have the same type I'm talking about.  It's a plastic housing that you use to build electronic devices.  They consist of two clamshell pieces top and bottom that screw together, with two end plates that can be removed.  Take out one of the plates, and you've got a plastic box that could hold your gun, easily mountable to the side of your cab.  There are several different sizes of these things, so you can find the best one for your gun.

I was looking for the same thing when I wanted to mount my Act Lab guns on the side of the cab.  I had the idea of using those soap caddies (the kind you suction cup to your shower), but I couldn't find one that would fit.  But maybe you can find one that'll fit your guns.  Then you can probably remove the suction cups and drill them directly into your cab.
