CPWizard adding #byoac IRC channel by default, opinons?
« on: September 27, 2007, 11:16:45 pm »
I've sent Saint a few e-mails about this so obviouly I'm already asking his permission to do this first. But I was curious what people here thought about the idea.

A little background; CPWizard is a new cp viewer program I've written that includes an IRC chat client with onscreen keyboard for use in an arcade cabinet. Right now it goes to an IRC room I've made up but even though there are people coming in and out of it all day noone stays around long enough for there to be more than two people in there at one time. My guess is everyone is waiting for more people to be on there besides me :)

I found out soon after that BYOAC's online chat is actually a website client that logs into an IRC channel. So I thought it would make sense to have CPWizard go here by default.

I was also looking at including some cool bot type features with triggers for doing things like showing the stats of the game your currently player, have an arcade game trivia mode (need help making questions and answers for that though) and maybe a way to show your most played games and things like that.

I know the chatroom isn't hugely popular on here but you often get about 10 or so people chatting at once which is quite impressive for an online community that centres around it's forums.

Apart from getting permission from Saint to do this, I was wondering what people thought of the idea. Does chatting on IRC while pausing a game your playing appeal to you?
