Xgaming parts any good?
« on: May 02, 2003, 02:25:31 pm »
I just bought two kits off ebay which consists of the following in each kit:

2 Joysticks
20 Buttons
20 Button Rings
20 Microswitches
20 Button Springs.

They are manufactured by XGAMING. Having never bought anything from xgaming I was wondering what everyones opinion is? Little late now to turn back, but atleast I'll know what I got myself into. :)

In case you havent seen it:

Work fine in my opinion. I have a set in a desktop controller and I like them. Many people have used them.  Don't have any idea how the xgaming switches will work in their lifetime but cheap to replace with Cherry if required.  If you turn the nut over on the switch you can get a bit of thread and apparently get around the 3/4 panel plus plexi problem (used to be a bit short until someone mentioned the nut trick).

PS This has been asked before but no problem  ;D

personally they are a bit cheaper but in my opinion they are crap.   actually,  its not hte parts that are crap so much as the switch' they use.  they are kinda.... boingy if that makes sense.  cherry's are nice and smooth.

i used both happs and x-gaming buttons in my current project. i wanted to save some money so i bought the x-gamings, once the happs buttons went on sale i decided i needed some color. the happs do have a slightly better feel, but i have no problems with the x-gaming ones. the only problem i have with them is the length. i used 3/4 inch mdf and1/8 plex for my cp. with the way they threaded the nuts, the only way i could get them to tighten was to screw them on upside down. otherwise i would have had to counter sink all the holes,  and that would've sucked. it worked, and they are tight but i would have prefered to have intstalled them properly.
i know a lot of people on the board are or have used these. do a search. there are some detailed descriptions and comparisons that can be found for the joys and buttons. good luck with your game.

I've got an X-arcade and I like the feel of joystick and the buttons.  Of course it's all personal, but as far as quality goes I can't complain (of course I also don't hammer the buttons like a crazy 12 year old might :) ).
