Woo! Had a fun little weekend project thats almost done now!
« on: September 24, 2007, 08:26:32 pm »
Nearly done with my new control panel for my cab now.   Some paint and a few more screws/bolts is all I've got left.  Well, that and wiring it up which might be a headache.

P2 is a 5 degree tilt to keep each others elbows out of the way.  8 buttons since I'm probably gonna get a PS2 adaptor for my JPAC, and the claw configuration because I like guilty gear, and that 5 button set up feels a lot nicer than the normal guilty gear layout to me.

Still can't believe how well it has turned out for a first build!  I'm pretty excited to get it mounted up and working

How big are your elbows that you need to accommodate them at the expense of intuitive control for player two?  Friends don't let friends angle joysticks.  ;)

Otherwise looking good.

Sanwa joysticks = Square restrictors so you  actually know where your corners are.

The original CP on this thing is completely dumb

And HAPP joysticks so you have no idea where the corners are.  People at first just jump all over the place until they realize to stand 30 degrees to the machine on it.

Some Japanese cabs actually have a tilt like this

Yeap, I made the same mistake when making my 4 player cab.  Now I am working on redesigning it.  Basically to allow more room, I had the 1st and 2nd player on the side angle instead of straight.  p3 and p4 were in the middle straight.  Like Kajoq, when people are trying to play anything, they run into major problem until they figure they have to sand at an angle.

The redesign will have the 1st and 2nd player in the middle and STRAIGHT.

If possible, don't angle them.

If you have to angle the sticks for some reason make sure your CP art has some arrows around the stick indicating this.

Lol, the sign is more just poking fun at one of our old roomates.  We're a relatively messy bunch, so  at one point our neat-freak roommate got sick of the mess and threw all of the shoes into a little cubby of a spare entertainment system and put a sign over it that said "This is where shoes go"  Later, We ended up with a 2nd TV for the living room, so we tossed all the shoes out and I crossed out the shoes and put "TVs" so it read "This is where TVs go".

I think you can tell the natural progression to SF3 machines.

The carebear painting is a sweet one of a kind piece of art a friend of ours did for one of my roommates birthdays

Do you mean sweet as in "take that crap down before someone sees it"?

Or sweet as in "I want to be forever referred to as the profane Care Bear guy"?

Is there a sign under it that says "this is where the worst art you can possibly find goes"?
