Plastic bezel for 27" Betson?
« on: September 14, 2007, 12:26:24 am »
Hey guys,
What are you using as a plastic bezel for the 27" Betson IMP-44-4070-RT?

Will one of these work good? http://www.happcontrols.com/monitors/49010500.htm (49-0106-00)

If so, can you describe the bezel? I have the 27" monitor squeezed into a cab that used to house a 25" monitor so things are tight...

Thanks guys!!

Yep, that's what I used, but my cabinet was designed for a 27" monitor.  If your monitor is behind smoked glass, then you can just use black posterboard with a cutout for the monitor face.  Use double-sided tape to attach the inside edge of the posterboard to the monitor face edge.

Here's an example of before and after applying the black posterboard around the monitor.  Keep in mind that this only looks good if you put smoked glass in front of it.

That's the one you want.

Dimensions are there on the Happ site, so not sure exactly what other info you're looking for.  The inner (open) square of the bezel fits the monitor perfectly, with the proper curves and all.  From that inner edge it slopes pretty steeply out away from the monitor and then flattens out to a 29.5x29.5" square.

The plastic is very easy to cut by scoring the back with a razor/boxcutter and then snapping it off along the score line.

Thanks guys! I just need some reassurance that the Happ bezel would actually fit my Betson monitor. Plus I'm only looking at a few inches on each side, so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to cut down the sides of the bezel to fit it that tight. If I get a chance I can post some pictures tomorrow when I get home from work.

Another question regarding the Happ 27" bezel ... Is it made to be trimmed around the inside? The reason I'm asking is because I had to create my own monitor brackets and although right now it looks just fine with the monitor in place, I'd hate to pay for the bezel and find out the monitor is sitting too far forward or too deep.

The inside of the bezel will fit the monitor perfect. The outside of the bezel will need to be trimmed to fit the width dimensions of your cab.

I waited to mount my Betson until I had the bezel so that I could make sure that my bezel and plexi would be a perfect 3/4" recess from the front of the cab.. In other words I fit the monitor to the bezel and not the bezel to the monitor.
My old user name was marlborroman13, but I kicked the habit many years ago!

Thanks marlborroman!

Ehhhh... that's what I should have done. But I didn't even consider the bezel at the time I was creating my brackets...

Ok, so basically by your post I'm gathering that I need a 3/4 inch recess from the monitor to the place where the bezel sides will lay? Where on the monitor are you measuring the 3/4 inch from? The middle of the monitor or the sides?

Thanks!!
