Asteroids Black Light
« on: September 12, 2007, 10:04:44 pm »
I picked up an Asteroids deluxe in great shape.  The black light was burnt out when I got it.  I replaced the black-light tonight and it works fine.  The only problem is - it appears too bright.  I know that sounds funny, but I replaced the bulb with the correct one and it is a blacklight (you can definitely tell by the glow).  The problem is, I can see the cardboard and everything else in the back pretty well.  If I recall correctly, the only things that should be really obvious are those painted neon like the ship and Asteroids.

In other words, it is supposed to appear like "outer space" with everything being black but the neon.  I even disconnected the marquee light to make sure I didn't have any spillage of light, but I had the same issue.  Is it just me or is it supposed to be like that?

You did get a WHITE black light right?   It should be colored white...not the standard dark purple...

Yes, I did get a colored white black light.  That was what came out of it.  I went back to the light shop today and get a black black light and it looks much much better!  I know that sounds backwards, because I realize the white one is the right one, but it doesn't look near as good.  Thanks!
