Bezel (mainly for UK viewers!)
« on: September 09, 2007, 06:08:48 am »
Hiya,

Trying to find something to use as a bezel in a Project Arcade cab with a 19" TFT Monitor (i know I need bigger!).

Any ideas? Tried looking for 'thick card' on ebay, but no joy - what did you use and specifically, where in the UK can I get it?  :dunno

Cheers, Paul.

I'm not from the UK..... but have you thought to check around in hobby or craft stores near you for something like posterboard or sign board or some other "thick card" stock like what you are decscribing.

The bezels mentioned above are good, but they look to be designed to fit a curved picture tube, so they may not fit flat against a TFT type monitor.

THanks for the replies so far guys.

The one from Gremlin as Kevin mentions, wont probably sit flush with a 19" TFT - but I will email them and ask thanks.

Also, there isnt many (or any) hobby shops round here - bit out in the sticks! - I am trying to find a decent seller online.

i'm using a 19" LCD in my cabinet.  at first, i bought a piece of posterboard at walmart.  I don't know about in the UK, but in the US, posterboard is available at all kinds of places.  I cut it to the right size and spraypainted it black.  it worked pretty well, but i wanted something that looked a little nicer.  so i masked off the screen area on the plexiglass that covers the monitor, and spraypainted the back side of it flat black.  from the front, it looks very glossy and smooth, I am very happy with the way it turned out.  now the only problem is that the monitor casing is silver, so i need to remove that and paint it so you don't see that tiny silver edge.

here is the posterboard bezel:

here it is with the plexi painted black:

there are some smudges on the plexi, but you get the idea.  the best part was that it was very cheap to do.  the plexiglass cost me about $8, the paint was $1, and i already had the masking tape.
