I got a classic stick combo from the about 4 months ago. It took about 5-6 weeks, but I expected that wait for a custom product. It was worth the wait.
Mamemarquees did the donkeykong/pacman overlay.

It was a great product. I heard so many horror stories, but most of them were the amount of time it takes to get a panel. So, I expected to wait, and wait I did. But the overall results were fantastic.

Even with slikstik, if you are going to slam dance them at least include some details. What did you order? What was the estimated delivery time? Did you/they try to communicate? When did they promise the refund by? etc.

i wouldn't say their prices are terrible...

they seem to be well built using good quality components...the extra cost comes in by them building the control panel for you...this is worth it to some...others not so much...

i wouldn't say their prices are terrible...

they seem to be well built using good quality components...the extra cost comes in by them building the control panel for you...this is worth it to some...others not so much...

It's only worth it if you actually RECEIVE the panel you paid for.  ;)

You definitely won't be getting anything from them now that you've slammed them in this forum.  I learned that lesson a while back after reporting to the group the multitude of excuses they gave me...  I did get my money back though, YMMV.

I have no doubt that SlikStik has problems but I get the impression that level-headed communication is not the OP's strong suit. 

My purchase from SS three years ago was without incident.

Is 2 months an acceptable amount of time to wait for even a custom control panel from ANY "professional" vendor?

Also...if you paid with a credit card I'd dispute the charges and be done with it.

That seems childish. The guy was promised a refund and it's been more than 2 months. I'm glad he's letting everyone know. A company like that doesn't deserve anyone's hard earned cash. Especially since this seems to be a recurring issue.

was it even a custom job where the size is different or is this over a regular run of the mill type becuase if it is a regular model they sell it should have been shipped within 5 day's really.

I personally have had no problems with them - decided to buy their tornado spinner when Oscar Controls went down....I paid for it online, think I had it within a week to week and a half.

Hello. I am new to the arcade/mame world. I should have mention that I ordered the classic gaming controller - $575 with shipping. I was told that the slikstik joysticks were very nice. I purchased a cabinet from mameroom.com in early July. I talked with Scott (great cabinet by the way!!) and he said that slikstik has nice controls. I contacted slikstik and asked what the delivery time for the joystick would be. I was told 2-3 weeks since they were not very busy and I am sure they wanted to make the sale!! I waited 3 weeks and then sent an email and called - NO response! I assumed that when I was told 2-3 weeks they would deliver on what I was told! I then started to send more emails and daily calls at week 5. I finally got ahold of a person on the phone - wow!! He said that the trackballs had been backordered but of course nobody called or emailed me  - very poor communication considering I HAVE PAID already. He told me I should have the product the next week. I made the mistake of Paying with a paypal transfer from my bank account instead of a credit card. Paypal will not help you if you have not filed a claim within 45 days(lesson learned, never pay with paypal!!) We are way past 45 days!! I started really getting angry at week 7 and some of my emails were not nice - but still very fair. The response to me was they will get the controller to me when they get it to me - horrible service. Because I was mad, they called me arrogant. They finally sent me an email saying they will refund the money but have not done so yet. I did comment in one of my emails which said they had very bad service and there are other builders of joysticks, I was told that they are the best period and everyone else just copies them - who is arrogant??  I have asked them to call me in every email I have sent - They will not call and hide behind email and do not answer their phone. I look in the Better Business website and found someone else has filed a claim/complaint on Sept 7, 2007 but I can not find much info about slikstik on the state of NJ website. Maybe I am not doing the search properly but I do not think this is the real business name. I have done a who-is search and found another comany name that owns the website. I have contacted the State Attorney General for NJ and received forms I need to fill out to file a formal complaint and request an investigation since they refuse to refund my money and have provided no product after 2 long months.

To be fair, I received an email over the last weekend saying that I will get a refund on Tuesday(sept 11th). We will see, but I have my doubts. The purpose of my original post was to let eveyone know that something funny is going on with slikstik.com. I am glad some of you have received a great product from them - I however feel waiting this long should not happen and feel like I have been cheated - Would you feel the same??

I have all of the emails from slikstik and will provide everything if anyone would like to see before purchasing from this company.

This has been my experience and all I want is my MONEY back - I will continue to post what I find (and if I need to file the paperwork with the state of NJ) and if I receive the refund I will state that as well. I have every right to express my concerns on this forum - the same as all of you.

How would you feel if you paid almost $600 for a product and never received the product or a refund after more than 8 weeks - original purchase in the first week of July. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have purchased from slikstik several times & never had a issue. And it is true happ is trackballs on b/o until mid october, I'm  lucky in fact i purchased several 3" trackballs ahead of time

See if you can hire Knievel or timoe to make you a panel (both are members here).  Their work is top-notch - the best of the best.

Divemaster127 - Ok, if the trackballs were back-ordered, why not communicate to all of the folks that paid for the product? Then let them know what options they have. Why complain when a customer that does not received their payed for product wants a refund?? Would you expect a paying customer to wait from July 7th until mid-october for a product they already paid for?

I did not mention in my long explaination (sorry it was so lenghty, and it is not every detail) that they want me to pay a 15% restocking fee from the original money I gave them. I am horrified at the business practices of this company. Basically I just want out, but I want my money back!

Thanks for your comments though! Sorry it sounds like I am complaining at you - I am just very frustrated with the whole situation!

This has been my experience and all I want is my MONEY back - I will continue to post what I find (and if I need to file the paperwork with the state of NJ) and if I receive the refund I will state that as well. I have every right to express my concerns on this forum - the same as all of you.

I suppose you do.  But you'd better get a clue now, and some damn thick skin, and understand that there are a LOT of people on here who will not always support your opinion or your "concerns" especially if you come off too hostile - or too far to one side of an argument or the other.  I've had to learn that myself - in other words, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, as I was told once.

Personally, while I don't disagree with your anger over not getting the product, based on what  you've said, I'm assuming you're now denying the product and  you want yoour money back.  That said, it is NOT unusual for stores these days to charge you a restocking fee upon return or denial of a product / service.

That seems like pretty lousy business. He ordered a product, was never informed of the back-order and on top of that he has to pay restocking fee.  :laugh2:

6 months ago I purchased an hdtv online. I got an email the next day telling me the tv was back-ordered and that they were expecting a shipment in a few weeks. I called the business and they were very polite and explained my options. I asked for a refund since I didn't want to wait that long. And guess what? I got my money back. Now that's the way you run a business.

You know what's funny? If christian was an intelligent business man, he would have just ordered a happ ball off of ebay to finish your order.
No, you should NOT have to pay a restocking fee in this case. What you need to do is contact your bank and inform them of the situation. I've never dealt with a bank on a chargeback, but it should work the same as a credit card chargeback.

Ok, thanks for straightening me out on that Gonzo - see, I KNEW I'd misread something.  I went back and read his post three times, but I couldn't find that key element last night I KNEW I was missing. Then, in addition to all that,  somehow it never crossed my mind that it was an online purchase (DUUUUUUUUH). :laugh2:

With the fog lifted from my head, I will agree - a restock fee out of money they held from you with no delivery and no notice of back order, should not be taken.

I would agree with a restocking fee, if he actually received the product: however, it is ridiculous if he never received anything...
