Mala three sided cocktail rotation issues!
« on: September 05, 2007, 06:21:36 pm »
I have built (as many others) a three sided cocktail cabinet with two panels with joystick and three buttons at either end and a long panel with two joysticks and six buttons each on the horizontal side.

I have searched the forum and know this has been asked before but however hard i try i cannot get it to do what i want.

I just want the vertical games to display vertically and the horizontal, well, horizontally.

I set up two gamelists, one vertical and one horizontal but cannot reliably get each to rotate on start, i.e. the verticals display on the horizontal or if it has managed to flip the horizontal games are on the vertical and wont switch back.

Is this possible?

Ive read the contoller mapping part but i just want the screen to flip when i change list. Or is there a better way.

It's Mala 1.04, mame 0.104.

Do i need to amend the mame ini somewhere?

Please help before i chuck the thing out the window!! :banghead:

I could ask you many questions about your setup.. But probably a lot easier to ask you to:

1) Post your mala.ini file (note you may have to re-name it to mala.txt or something to post it here)

2) Let us know which way you monitor is mounted in relation to your controls. I assume is faces the right way up of the Horizontal side?

Thanks

Sorry for the delay i've just been putting the pc in the cabinet and amazingly it works!

I have the file now, i have to transfer it to this pc now as i have no wireless on the cabinet yet.

How do i attach a file? cant see the option. Dont really want to post in the message body.

Cheers.

All seems to work fine..

You do understand that how it works is when you switch orientation is will switch to the Appropriate game list not the other way around?

Eg you need to allocate a button to rotating the screen... (see attached pic)

Alternatively, If you have separate inputs for all the controls on the cocktail table you can use the controller mapping that will automatically switch the list AND switch orientation without the need to allocate a button..

I knew it would be me getting something wrong!
I wasn't aware that you need to press a button i just thought it would switch when a vertical game was played!

Thanks for that.

It is now in the cabinet and working and all the controls are working as well! not one bad solder, amazing!

Had a little play last night such great fun, still playing the same 10 games i used to!

Thanks for your help.

Yeah, There are a few rotation options. w3hich is super cool  :applaud:

It could be arranged a bit better I suppose so it was more intuative.  :dunno

I guess it just ended up that way as MaLa evolved so it is clear to older users.
