Change TT2 Spinner Knob
« on: September 05, 2007, 05:07:02 pm »
Ok, I wanna try out the TT2 Mini-Wheel I have in my box of CP parts.

Question is - how do I get the black knob off of the TT2? I've tried giving it a reasonable pull - but dont want to break it.

There are two small holes in the side of the spinner which look to be for small screws - but there is nothing in there.

Basically - Do I just need brute force to pull my knob off?

(ok, reading this back I realise how risque it sounds!  :P)

Thanks!

There is a set screw inside one of the holes.  I can't remember if it is flathead or allen style.

I think it's allen

my big token knob came with an allen wrench
although I have not tried to remove it, I believe that's what it's for

Don't just pull...There is a set screw (two, in this case).

Whether it is a flat head or allen depends on the knob style.  They are as follows:

Big Blue, Black / Red Rubber - Flathead
Black Dimple, Basic Black - Allen

Use caution when tightening these.  They need very little tension to hold them on the shaft.  More than just snug will just inflict unnecessary damage to the shaft.

The TokenTop comes with it's own wrench.  The set screw on this one is special so it cannot gall the shaft, which makes it the best choice when used with one of the Mini-Racer wheels.
