System requirements to run intro videos
« on: June 27, 2009, 04:37:13 pm »
I've had a look at Hyperspin as a FE. Looks really cool but my Mame laptop won't be able to handle it at full specs. (1.6 GHz Thinkpad with 512Mb RAM). I'm currently using MaLa and I was wondering if my system will be able to handle the vids in a layout I make for it. I checked the Wiki for MaLa and it states requirements as very low.... but I guess that just to run the menu system with static pics from Snaps folder.

If your system runs .avi files normally then fine.

Thats all the video files are. I feel sure you won't have a problem at all.

I just donated to Emumovies.com. You can see some YouTube clips there showing examples of frontends in action with the movies. Gonna download their ftp file and try it with MaLa. Then I might try the other movie files with Hyperspin. (Hyperspin needs the movies in a certain format). Dunno what my laptop can handle though. Certainly not Hyperspin with everything enabled. Will have to switch some options off.

Some stuff is free (MAME stuff primarily).  There is a lot of stuff that Circo has put together that hasn't been released yet and you need to have FTP access to get it.  To get FTP access you will have to donate to the project.

Ohhhh!  I didn't know this. Will be interested to see what he has tucked away. I donated before the weekend so I'm just waiting for my FTP access email to come through.  8)
