Outrunners cab part identification...
« on: September 03, 2007, 10:59:23 pm »
I need help identifying what some of the smaller boards from my dual Outrunners cab are. Also, if someone has a scan of the Outrunners manual, I'd appreciate a copy.
Here's some pics:

The Arcade Miscellaneous board is probably the proper board for this question.

Doing a quick search for Outrunners came up with this post. In it a user named rollerball is talking about his "great-working" outrunners. You might try to PM him.

Also--I'd consider posting this over in the KLOV forums. There's a decent amount of die-hard arcade guys over there who know their stuff but are annoyed by anything involving MAME (including this site).

It'd probably be a good idea to keep an eye out for a manual somewhere. It seems there's none to download at the usual sites, but do a search and keep watching eBay.

The other question is (since you have the game and we don't) where did the boards come from? Were they loose in the cabinet or did you take them out of a particular part of the cab? What was the state of the cab when you got it and what has been changed since?

Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to think my post was written with invisible ink.
I've been searching to the far reaches of the internet and ebay for a manual, but so far have been unsuccessful.

I got the cab basically complete except for the monitors.  It is a dual sit-down cab. I could power it on and hear the music and sound, hear it respond to the buttons, pedals, etc. I just had no monitors in it to test the picture. I actually only wanted one of the steering wheels, but decided to use the parts to make an xbox driving cab. I'm pulling everything i don't need out of the cabinet, including the small boards above. I want to know what they are so I can decide if they are useful for hacks, mame cabs, etc. Or, if I decide to put them on Ebay, i'll at least know what they are.

Thanks for the suggestion on the other forums. I'll try posting there or contacting the other byoac member.

Thanks,
Hatrick

:laugh2: Well, i expect you all to point and laugh...
I was thinking about the day I picked up the Outrunners cab (about a year ago)...and I could swear I found a copy of the manual and schematics in the cabinet. I searched the house tonight and sure enough, I found the original manual.
I don't know how many hours I wasted searching for an electronic copy of the manual on the internet.
So, now I have the manual and schematics, and I know what the boards are pictured above.
Next time I get access to a scanner, I'll try and scan the manual and have it available to the community.

Thanks,

hatrick

On the plus side, maybe you can make things easier for someone in the future.
