Q*bert sound issues- anyone ever fixed?
« on: September 01, 2007, 08:37:36 pm »
I know from reading on the web that Q*bert is infamous for sound issues.  Mine says "I am turned on" when you power it up, and initially had a few sounds working but not all.  It would however say "bye bye" pretty regularly.

I found out on the web that one of the chips on the main board would need to be replaced to help fix the issue- I ordered it and upon installing it, I immediately noticed more sounds working.  I was psyched!  I powered down the game and upon powering it up the next day, now the only sound I get is the "I am turned on" and then nothing else.

However, when pushing the test button on the sound card/PCB, it does generate a noise.

Do I put the old chip back in as it was?  Did the new chip allow for more damage?  I'm really bummed about the sound not working, b/c that's the best part of this particular game.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On a brighter note, the knocker's still working!   :(
