Currently I have concave arcade buttons on my cab, and I'm thinking of sticking with them ... but speaking of "sticking".. the buttons seem to slightly stick some worse than others which is my main reason for wanting to replace them. I went to a local arcade where tekken 5 was there and that machines buttons were convex and very loose... too loose for my taste... so id like to purchase a new set of buttons that will give me the feel of concave with less of a sticky situation. Also saw a dedicated mario / split with donley kong cab and those buttons were perfect any one know where I can get those?

** Also I'm thinking of going with ultimarc sticks "Mag Stick Plus" red ones which buttons would match those sticks the most

concave buttons are pretty much standard from what I have seen.  if yours are sticking, have you tried cleaning them?  If you take them apart, they are basically 2 pieces of plastic, a spring, and the switch.  if you take the switch of, you can easily remove the center of the button and clean both pieces...

As for the mag stiks, i havent personally used them, but i considered them when i was first building my cabinet.  i looked around the forums here and from what i read, i decided to stay away from them.

well the reason why I want to go with the ultimarc is so I can have a 4-8 way from the top of the panel, as for the buttons I have taken them apart, some retain with noisy spring return, some arent bad etc,.. reguardless I want all red buttons So I'm going to replace em'

Heres the thing about nintendo buttons - there is a button assembly that contains the metal bracket and switch. You need this when ordering replacement buttons. Your options are to order a set of buttons like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-Donkey-Kong-Jr-control-panel-buttons-FREE-S-H_W0QQitemZ260131332543QQcmdZViewItem

Or replace them with some HAPP equivalent style buttons. I would probably just switch them out for normal microswitched buttons. I wouldn't use a Ultimarc 4/8 way stick though. The throw is too short and it takes away from the gaming experience for me.

the only problem is what other company makes a top panel switchable 4-8 way stick? I just looked at x-arcade buttons http://www.x-arcade.com/arcade_buttons.shtml claiming to be "commerical grade"

Also whats the difference between the "Happ competion buttons vs. x-arcade newly designed ones"

I would not even consider x-arcade button commercial grade.  The x-arcade ones have a click sound to it which to me feels a bit weird.  Most people here tends to use Happ buttons, especially the Happ compettion concave buttons.

One suggestion if it is a new button and not filthy as suggested above is I had a pushbutton that was sticking and it was brand new, the actual switch on it was fine also, the button I had drilled for it was a little to tight and when the button was fully pushed into the CP it would stick, I solved this by simply expanding the radius of the hole. If you drilled the hole yourself you may want to ensure its not TOO tight of a fit in there.

this was a pre-drilled dream arcades cp, initially when I got it no problems, but a year and a half later I'm looking to replace the buttons and the sticks

I wouldn't call their stick a solution though. In my opinion, it doesn't work well for a 4 way and fails miserably at an 8 way. The throw is just too short.

Got with a U360 instead. It'll handle your 4 way, 8 way and Q bert style games, it's not switchable from the top of the panel though. Instead, it switches digitally instead.  ;D
