Scored a couple of new cabs at a KC auction
« on: August 26, 2007, 11:52:20 pm »
I purchased two new cabs at an auction in Kansas City yesterday.

San Francisco Rush the Rock, sit down racer, works great, in really good condition; $400.00

Pole Position, stand up cabinet, moderate wear but fixable, heavy burn-in on monitor; $175.00

I plan on adding an XBOX to the SF Rush cab and using it as dual-use so I can switch between the XBOX and SF Rush. I've never done anything like that before, so I'll be scouring the forums for knowledge on that. If anyone has any words of wisdom (interfacing steering wheel, monitor, etc.) please offer them up!

Man!  I was gonna go to that auction, but my cousin's husband had to go and die in a car wreck last week, so I was out of town.  How was it (other than obviously lucky for you)?

I was pleasantly surprised at the auction. There were about 80 working cabinets, and 15 or so non-working cabinets. A lot of good condition working cabinets could be had for under $200. Several non-working cabinets went for $10, and one was had for nothing. They run an auction every two months, if you're looking for an inexpensive cabinet, I'd definitely recommend it.

These two will be going into my new gameroom. I just moved from CA to MO had purchased a new house with a basement. The wife has generously allowed me a 30x18 foot room in the basement for my gameroom/theater. It's currently being sheetrocked and will hopefully be done in about 3 to 4 weeks.

arcadefever, Thanks for the link regarding the steering wheel. I'll be looking at it more closely later, I think the steering wheel will be the most difficult part of this project.
