FS: Portable Desktop Controller [ LAST CALL!! ]
« on: August 24, 2007, 02:30:37 pm »
Custom built MDF box with Happ controls and artwork. Artwork done by DarthGatsu. Sorry about the bad color choices on the controls, they are what I had on had at the moment. The plan is for a blue stick and red buttons on the front. This stick was built for MAME on a PC.

This stick contains a GPWiz from GroovyGameGear.com, USB hub and 1gb memory key. The USB Memory key allows you to store your choice of MAME version and rom files making this completely portable just supply the PC and you are in game land.  This is currently for sale. I am asking $130 as is or $150 with color changes mentioned above. Cost of shipping will be added to the above asking price.

I think it's a hell of a design.  I think you could probably compete with that one dude who still makes custom joysticks for fighters.  Can't remember the name or the website, but he makes similar stuff, and apparently he's the "only one left."

I believe you are thinking about Byrdo.  He still cranks out a few every now and then.  I have three examples (pics) of his work, each is a different style.  You can see more of his work, which is much better than mine at byrdo.org.  His sticks, when they are available sell for well over $200 and usually sell out quickly.  There are other builders out there like Timoe here and others on other sites around.  You just have to look for them.

Last bump.

This thing will say hello to my sledge hammer this weekend if nobody has any interest.  (I'll keep the parts though)

I will also entertain serious offers.

Is that a USB key inside I see?  What does that do?  And what is the bigger grey box with a cable coming out of it?

Great job BTW.
