Hi all, whilst building my Cab (Ultimate Arcade II) I decided to do a jukebox at the same time for the same reason as building a cab - couldn't afford a pool table for the games room and had another spare computer lying about.
So I have decided rather than building one to modify an old 1930's stereogram to output mp3 music whilst still being able to use the radio/record player. Now I am wanting to keep the stereogram in its original look as i am becoming quite the hoarder of old wooden furniture (antiques).
So the two questions I have are:
1. Speakers - I have acquired a 5.1
home theatre system and wondering how I integrate it to the PC. Looking at various 5.1 PC sound cards, there isn't one nor 6 speaker outlets. My understanding is that there are three outputs, each one capable of supplying two speakers (FL + FR, RL + RR, Center + Sub) - so do I just have 3 headphone jack style connectors connecting to the sound card whereby each end splits into 2 connectors to plug into the 5.1 amplifier input connectors?
2. User Input - I have managed to score an lcd touch screen, anyone have any ideas how to mount this? As I am replacing the top for the stereogram I was going to cut out a section to fit a hinged lid whereby opening would flip the screen towards you. I just need to work out how to lock it into place on an angle for better input access. Then there is always the option of having it spring up (like the TVs at the end of those fancy beds), but again the screen needs to flip out and lock into place but shouldn't take a huge amount of effort to slot back away in its hidden position. I'm obviously going for the hidden/disguised look.
Any advice muchly appreciated
