Using the "Not a Project" thread
« on: August 18, 2007, 11:19:49 pm »
All,

When using the IMG tag and linking to images loaded into the "Not a project" page, what does one do to make all the images open full size?  I've used that for the first time today, and It seems to randomly decide which images to make large and which ones to use their thumbnail.

Thanks
-csa

there is a certain size limit I believe. if the picture is for example 640x480 and the limit is 512x384 then the thumbnail is used. Im not sure of the specifics, so maybe I shouldnt have posted in the first place, lol

What I do is post my pics in the not a project thread, and right click the thumbnails in a new window. I copy/paste that URL into the IMG thread.

What I do is post my pics in the not a project thread, and right click the thumbnails in a new window. I copy/paste that URL into the IMG thread.

Hmm.. I was using firefox right click and saying "Copy Image Location".  Then pasting it in.  I did this for all the pics and the size determination was still random.  I then tried the open link in new window, copy/paste url, and the pasted link was exactly the same as what I all ready had posted.  Odd.  Even more weird, is that deleting the entire IMG tag and rebuilding it with the "open in new window" technique appeared to fix it.

I'm curious if there isn't a maximum image size like what was suggested above.

Hmm..

If the image is too big, it won't even post.

There is a max size on this forum. I believe it is like 640 pix width and somewhere around 450-500 in height. Anything over that that is attached to your post is thumb nailed and when clicked opened in a new window. This is why I try to always go like 600 wide on everything when I re-size these days. Then when you hot link an image over the size limits, the forum will automagically resize the image to around 600 width as well.

I think I understand the problem.  When you copy and paste your images, try and change the last digit one higher or one lower and see what results you get.  i.e. 22314.jpg, change to 22315 instead or 22313.  I have to do this sometimes manually to get the image to show in my thread at full size.

There's a kb limit also though.
