Want a new "Arcade PCB" forum?
« on: August 18, 2007, 10:38:57 am »
There have been many restores that related to Arcade PCB's and their repairs that don't necessarily belong in the "Project Announcements" forum, example: My Asteroids Restore.

A place to discuss the electronics of particular cabinets would be nice.  It would give people a place to search for and find links about Arcade electronics outside the scope of the monitors.

While I like the idea of a dedicated board for "dark side" projects  ;D , I am not convinced that we would see a lot of traffic on that subboard and worry that it would get lost / not visited.

My personal feeling is that the best course of action is for people to post repair questions in Arcade Miscellaneous (and for folks who post elsewhere, have the mods move it to AM). As it stands, the folks with the expertise already frequent that board, so we wouldn't lose anything.

Particularly relevant threads (e.g. who had the big Asteroids repair thread a while back -- I learned a bunch from that) could be added as links (or, better yet, as articles) in the restoration page in the wiki and we would have a decent record in a central location (which,at the end of the day is the point, isn't it?).

My $.02.

Seems like another good candidate for the recently proposed "Restoration and Repair" sub-forum.
