Introduction
« on: August 18, 2007, 01:47:18 am »

Hey everyone, long time reader, first time posting.  I, like a lot of you have become obsessed with this amazing hobby.  I finally got my first cabinet (dynamo) and have been slowly working on it.  I have some great ideas I hope to share here once I make some progress.   Theres not much to see so far but I threw together a website www.alienhut.com/mame if anyone wants to check it out.  I won this cabnet on Ebay for $1.25! And the seller lives maybe 2 miles from my house.  The funny thing is I found exactly $1.25 in the bottom of the cabinet as I was cleaning it out! HA! Anyway,  I hope to be chatting with you guys a lot in the coming months/years! Thanks to all the ops for keeping this awesome site alive!

Greetings from another Texan and Welcome. (See I can call you a Texan because that is where your cabinet is, and that is how I judge "where you are from"  :laugh2::cheers:  I am pretty new to this obsession as well and some of my co-workers are now converts.  Pretty soon everyone will have a cabinet in their house.

Good luck with your Project.

I do have a lot of work to do!  I'm having a great time with this though I have to say.  I built the monitor shelf today, it turned out great (I just hope it will hold the weight)

Looking good.  I didn't think that cabinet was worth $1.25 but I see now that I was wrong.  You have increased it like... 10 fold...  :laugh2:  In all seriousness its coming along nicely!

welcome to the family ;)

I like the $1.25 story and you found the same amount IN the cab cleaning it LOL that's cool...

make sure to post a project thread here ... that's a GREAT way to get input and ask questions as you go... insert pics in the forum page so folks dont have to hunt them in external links.

good luck and have fun!!

Eric,
That is great you picked up that old cab.  I like to save old cabs and restore/convert them into new ones.  It saves them from the garbage heap and I love the thought of playing games on my cabinet that was once in service somewhere.  Good luck with your cabinet.  I'm sure you will have it looking top notch in no time flat.

Welcome Mamiac & good luck with the project. I myself am a noob to cab repair/conversion but you will find a wealth of information here and the people friendly.

Thanks guys for your support and encouragement! :)   I would like to create a project thread, as a newbie I must ask,  do I just create it here in the main forum Just like I did this one?   ???  I dont like to make a habit of sticking things where they dont belong.  :o That could be misconstrued. LOL

Hello Mamiac,

first of all welcome and congrats on your 1.25$ deal.  :applaud:

For your "project announcement", you basically do the same thing you did with this thread, but in the project announcement!!!

Like others says, post a lot of pic directly in your thread.  we something gets lazy and don't bother clicking on links...

One advice, take your time to do things right the first time ... and enjoy your project.

Jay
