light gun act labs or topgun....
« on: August 13, 2007, 07:07:29 pm »
Please forgive another light gun topic.

I have read the 45 page topgun topic and found it a bit confusing actually. Here is my situation. I run win98se for my cab and smogs driver isn't that win98 friendly (not a dig on smog, my fault for using an outdated OS, and to say thanks for all his hard work and effort). What I do not want is to have to play with the drivers all the time. I need something easy. I have two daughters that already suck the life out of me :). I just want to make sure that when they turn on the arcade the guns work. I don't want to get a call at work "the guns are not working again". I'm sure we all have been through it :).

So my question is for simplicity, which one is better. I know Act Labs are a lot more but if it saves some headaches it might be worth it.  Thanks....

Z.

well most people use smogs driver for the LCD top guns, as they seem to work best. i haven't heard much good about the act labs guns either though, possibly more stable but there are lots of compatibility issues depending on what TV you use.

another option i don't know if you have tried is Acorns driver... it is a little more win98 friendly. get it here: http://www.guncon2driver.com/  it is also a good resource for lightgun information on the forms.

good luck.
