gamer graffix as sideart
« on: August 09, 2007, 01:37:06 pm »
dunno if this has been posted before, (I searched but didn't find anything) but just in case it hasn't:

Gamer Graffix is now doing wall art with various gaming and movie characters including Mario, Samus and Bowser. For $20 a pop, I think they might make good sideart for a Nintendo themed cab.

If anyone has used them, let me know how it worked out.

Not mine, but there are several pictures of them in use at the bottom of this page: http://web.mac.com/cudmore/iWeb/ArcadeCabinet/ArcadeCab%20Construction.html

Been kinda wondering about that myself, as I'm a bit of
a Transformers nut...

I tinkered around with Mala for the first time today (been
using MameWah but it's been giving me fits).  What do you
think of this as a Mala menu with some of the
Transformer Graffix as sideart?
(on my black-and-blue cab)

looks good.  mala is pretty easy to work with and very flexible when it comes to layouts.  please post pics of the sideart.

I looked up Transformers "flypaper" and found what could
be good sideart on this theme.

Using the images and playing around w/ Paint.net I was
able to construct a fascimile.  Unfortunately I don't have
any direct-on side shots of my cab yet and am not at
home to take one right now, but I included the Optimus Prime
flypaper image so you could see what it would look like from
the side.

For $14-20, is it worth it?  I thought also that the flypaper
is removeable if I hate it.

For another $14-20 I might put the yellow Bumblebee on the
other side...

EDIT:  was only $10 apiece at Walmart...

Heh... might have to have Scott make me a Transformers
marquee now...  ;D

Check out my cab in the "project announcement" forum.

I used the Mario and Bowser.

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=58717.0

Look towards the bottom of the page.

Mine have been on for about 2 1/2 months no with no problems.

Awesome!  I really like how you integrated the painted
scene w/ the graffix art.

I could try something like that with Transformers but
that would probably mean I'd have to either draw
Cybertron, Metroplex, Autobot Headquarters, or
Megan Fox.   ;D

Oh darn.

Thanks for the compliment...but I didn't do the art. My niece did that for me. I can't draw a stickman, muchless paint one.

The first time I saw the gamer graffix, I knew exactly what I was gonna try.

The transfromers would look great on the side of that cab.

I was thinking the Bowser and DK ones might be good, but all of the other characters are console-specific (why can't they just have a plain Mario). They look pretty nice and the price is defiintely right.

Vidmouse--why not do a simple grid behind the characters? You could probably Do it with a straight edge and a silver paint pen. Simple graphics are sometimes more effective. It's pretty much to scale in the Photoshopped pic. I can't believe the Transformers are 18x24.

EDIT-The graphics are on an 18x24 sheet. Bumblebee is still probably almost 18" tall I would think. Edited pic has been added.

Well gang, I went ahead and bought the material..
and happy to report that Walmart was still carrying them
(plus Spider-Man 3 graffix for any of your Marvel vs. ....  fans)
for about $10 a set.  I picked up two Optimus Prime's, one
for each side of my cab (I liked the Bumblebee too but I think
b/c I already have Blue and Pink buttons the Optimus will
go much better colorwise)

Crowquill, I LOVE the idea and the render you did... however
in looking at the actual product it's not quite like the images
I provided... Optimus is apparently superimposed on a giant
silver Autobot symbol.  Actually it looks pretty cool, so in a way
it may save me a whole lotta work.  Also, taking it out of the
package and measuring it, he comes in at about 19" x 15",
respectable for the side of my cabinet.

The Transformers logo should also fit on my CP as well, given
that it's still plain black too.  Not much of a CPO but at least
it fits w/ the theme...

Made an update on my website with more photos of this as side art.
I'm pleased with the result for the price (though I'm not sure how
much "normal" side art would cost either).  Too bad they don't have
"Tron" flypaper :)
