Track and Feild now on XBOX Live!
« on: August 09, 2007, 08:23:50 am »
downloaded it and got all but 3 achievements on the first 2 tries. I've never thrown the hammer 90m so Im pretty sure I'll never get that one.

I do love the button lay out..... you can run by either hitting B and X or just shaking the left analog stick left and right, A jumps/throws object.

Just for fun I fired up the MAME cab and loaded T&F..... even with the cheat I cant throw the hammer that far, lol

On a lark I downloaded the demo and actually loved it.  So I ended up buying it too.

I really really really hate the hammer throw.  Everything up to it is easy, but I haven't even qualified in the hammer throw.  I can either throw straight, or get a decent release angle (or usually neither), but never both at the same time.

I feel you on that, I got *really* lucky and threw it 88m last night, but my girl was wiggling the stick *zing* and I hit the button, just look for the hammer to flash red.

I still struggle with the hammer toss and the high jump, I just get all retarded on both.  Also, I hate the "updated graphics" and Im soooo glad they put the option to use the old ones.

If my wife were wiggling my stick I think I'd do even worse at the throw.

But, seriously, you actually don't have to "run" during the hammer throw.  Just run once to start the throw and then you only need to use the action button.

Too bad all these great games that they offer on new consoles couldn't have been made to look better graphics wise when you download them on XBOX live or the Wii console. Then they might be really worth picking up with some added graphics power.

What's wrong with you? Can't i make a comment without people getting all bent out of shape? You wouldn't have liked a little bit of sharper graphics on the old games?

Consider this.  You create a NY Giants thread and discuss Giants-related things.  Someone shows up and says "Football and baseball are stupid because they only allow 9 players per side!".  Does that sound: a) stupid?  b) irrelevant?  c)  factually wrong?  d) all of the above?  or e) typical tommy rant?

I'm talking about taking these cool old games and wishing it was better. I'm not crapping on them.

How ever a thread turns out is how it turns out and their is nothing anyone can do. I'm getting tired of people like you not taking what i said at face value and holding a grudge from past known posts I've made. I'm not here to argue with people like you.

If anyone else would have said what i said it would have been looked at in a totally different way, cut the ---smurf-poop--- already. Grow up and act like a man, not a child.

I'm still trying to figure out why Malenko says the game has updated graphics and Tommy is wondering why they don't have updated graphics.  Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I honestly don't have anything against you, tommy, and I really wish you wouldn't take what I say so personally.  What I take offense to is your tendency to create an argument out of nothing.  There really isn't any reason to complain about the graphics in Live games when they all look better than the originals.

Lighten up and try stuff out before you condemn it.  And for the sake of peace and harmony on the boards, please keep in mind that every once in a while, you're going to be wrong about what you're saying.  I'm wrong all the time.  Only Howard and the Pope are infallible.

On topic:

I still suck at the hammer throw.  Anyone have any good tips?  I'm releasing at about 1250 power and just trying to get a qualifying throw rather than going for 90, but I still can't get both angles in the right range at the same time.  I throw 85-90 out of bounds, or I put it down the center for 71.5 meters.  I want a damn cheat code to let me practice the hammer!

its more fun to complain then read.

The new graphics aren't like 3D renders or digitally captured guys, its more like Mame with a Super Sai 2x filter on it, I prefer the blocky goodness of the original.

As for the hammer throw, 45 degrees when the hammer is dead on will qualify you, I still cant break the hercules achievement of 90m but you have to wait pretty late into the spin.

I feel so lame I cant get a perfect score on a challenge stage on Galaga on XBOX Live!, I can do it on my MAME cab all day long.lol.

I finally managed to qualify late last night.  I got lucky one time and threw right down the middle at 45 degrees.  It was around the low 80's.  Maybe with a couple more hours of practice I'll get a little more consistent.

After the hammer, the high jump actually seemed really easy to me.  I was expecting more frustration but I didn't miss a single jump until after I'd cleared the achievement height.  Is there a way to raise the bar?  It seemed a little tedious getting up to the higher levels.

I don't know if it is the same as the original or not but on the original you don't have to press the run buttons on that event. Also, if you wait until the second the red hits the beginning of the last box and press launch then, you should be able to get 90+. It is all in the timing. I don't have a 360 or live so I have no idea if it is the same or not but if it is close, try that trick.
