atari coin door questions..
« on: March 21, 2002, 07:10:36 pm »
hey everyone. i just got a dual entry atari coin door. i am curious about something. there is a test switch on it...what exactly is it supposed to test? also, there seems to be a piece missing and i am wondering if i can replace it. its not extremly important but i would like to if i can. its like.. a plastic arm behind the coin return button that bends when you press the button in and seems to help the spring push the button back out. also, what do i actually wire to my ipac...is it wiring from the door or would it be from the coin mech? i assume the mech but i want to be sure. thanks for any help  :)

If that plastic piece is brown/tan then you have a COINCO brand coin door.

Also, that brown piece is pretty important if the coin gets stuck.  It's what triggers the reject on the coin mech.  I'm assuming that you don't have any mechs on it, as it would be obvious what it did if it was triggered.

Atari used two coin door suppliers. Games like Missile Command had a COINCO (Coin Acceptors, Inc.) door and games like Dig Dug had COIN CONTROLS doors. About a year ago both manufacturers were bought out by MONEY CONTROLS, who promptly abandoned amusement coin door and coin chute manufacturing to concentrate on dollar bill acceptors instead.
