Wire Guage Length
« on: August 01, 2007, 11:13:06 pm »
OK,

i can get tons of Guage 22 wire FOR FREE.

I just need to know how much I would need. I am going with the 2 player street fighter config (6 button)

what length and how much?

And do I need 18 guage for grounds as Bob suggested, or will 22 guage work for everything?

Thakns@!

I used 22 for everything.

As far as how much...that kinda depends on your setup.  Are you building a standup cab, bartop, cocktail?  If you have a template CP made up simply measure the distances between all of the buttons for your ground...then figure out how long you need for your runs from the CP to the encoder...or where ever you plan to terminate them.  Add it all up...then get some extra.  F ups always happen...better to have extra wire and not need it than need it and not have it.

I also used LEDs to light my marquee...so I used extra wire to run up to the top of my cab...make sure you get all the lengths that you need figured into your total.

I agree with Jouster... none of us here are going to be able to give you any answer.  The only possible answer I can try to give you would be something like "Since it's free, just grab 100 feet of it, and you'll have plenty"

Other than an answer like that, you are the only person who can answer it.  Go look at your CP and decide how you want to run your wire.  Measure the path, add up the number of connections and add some for extra as mentioned.  If your CP isn't built yet, look at a similar sized box, or make a cardboard mock up of the top.

Or just go get 100ft or so.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

also, if you've never wired a CP before - consider ordering more than you "need" for any mistakes. And don't forget about your next cabinet!  :)
