able to update eeprom on keywiz ?
« on: July 30, 2007, 07:30:44 pm »
Basically what i want to do is update the onboard eeprom for the keywiz, i think the keywiz software is very horrible, everytime it starts up my machine it has to open the crappy keywiz software and upload the codes because i changed a few buttons and it actually fails because i have game ex to start up so it goes right to game ex and then ketywiz wont apply the correct changes i've made. Anyway i can permantly write to the keywiz and not use there crappy software ?

Crappy ?!?!
A bit harse don't ya think.......

Do you have KeyWiz loading FIRST and have the KeyWiz software initialize GameEx ?
Not sure if a frontend should be initialized that way to be honest, but worth a shot.

At least I've personally never had a problem with the software.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

If you don't have V2.0 you should download again.  If you haven't fully read the instructions, you should consider giving them another perusal

The KeyWiz software is quite powerful.  It allows you to automatically configure the KeyWiz in ways not even possible with simple EEPROM methodology, it does it quickly and if you set the stealth option, quietly.

It also, as Kevin wrote, lets you associate your front-end to a profile.  That means it provides an orderly startup and automatically launches the FE when it has finished updating the hardware.

If you have any questions or need help, please email me.

RTFM!

I have the Keywiz start up, program the encoder, and then load my AtomicFE. Works great!
