I was able to get the RGB boards working from Randy with his software.  Very cool.  I also added a couple little bells and whistles.  While test driving, I shot a 1/2 minute video showing some of the effects.  Enjoy:

Also, I just noticed that the audio quality sucks when uploaded, so you won't get the whole cool effect. :dunno

Last night, I was able to mount the 22" monitor.  I used some thin aluminum to hold the monitor in place.  I drilled holes in it to match the pattern on the back.  Once I secured the two braces, I bent the aluminum around the contour of the monitor to the edge of the window bracket and used a self tapper in each of the four parts to connect it.  I also used 3/32" plexi, marked where the monitor would be, and painted the outside area so that only the screen will be showing.  The pics here are of the finished product from the outside, as I decided to secure the betabrite before taking those pics.  I was in the zone last night, so the pics to second fiddle.  Anyways, here are a couple different views of it and the beta brite.  I'll take more pics later when I get the chance.  Maybe I'll document how I'll make the plexi that covers the betabrite. :dunno

Thanks for the compliments fellas!  Here are a couple pics of the straps that hold the monitor and plexi in place.  I got lucky that the metal was so flexible.  It made my life sooooo much easier.  Oh, and it looked cool by accident.

I cut and painted the plexi for the betabrite area and while I was waiting on it to dry, I cut out rings for the lightning discs.  Where they are going, they are about 1/2" short in diameter, so I took 1/4" foam board and with the use of a couple dishes around the house, I cut out the size I needed, and here are pics of that process.  I have since painted them black and I'm now waiting for them to dry as well.

Wonderful news!  I bought this touchscreen kit for the jukebox.  After taking apart the lcd and hooking this up, I'm happy to report that it works great!  This was the final piece of the puzzle as far as new tech was concerned.  Now to build the housing for it. :banghead:

First update of the evening:
I was able to get the back of the lightning discs painted black so the behind the scenes won't be viewable.  Here are a couple pics of that exciting process.

Where the betabrite plexi is to go, I decided to use 1/4" foam stripping to make up the gap between the beta brite and the plexi.  Here are some pics of that process, the gluing of the plexi to the juke, and then finally a couple snaps of the whole project.  The epoxy ate some of the paint at the top, but I plan on covering it with some decals.

I was able to get the RGB boards working from Randy with his software.  Very cool.
In the video, there is a lighted square.  Did you get that from Randy as well and/or is it also controlled with the LED wiz too?

Very cool indeed.  Major bling.

I bought that at Spencersgifts.  I thought they would be a temporary fix for the bottom window, but once I got them in there and the tinted window did there thing, I'm very happy with the appearance.

Final update of the night.  Here are some pics of the lightning discs finished and installed, with and without power.  Also, I used those two squares and I was awful worried that they would stick out like a sore thumb.  I used 1/4" foam board, which is a miracle worker for many applications, cut out the size I needed for the bottom window, mounted the boxes, sealed them with hot glue, and installed them with again, hot glue.  With the tinted glass, I'm very happy with the results.  I have been trying to get two separate companies to make me something special for that area, but they won't get back with me. :timebomb:  Anyways, I'm completely content with what is there.

Thanks fellas!  I've been test driving it for 24 hours now with Freebox and no problems as far as computer lock ups or software issues.  I'm still trying to figure out the betabrite situation.  I need to look into uninstalling the comm port and reinstalling it and see what happens.  Stupid old ELO software.  There's no uninstall options at all on it.  I did delete the comm1 driver that elo had in the system32 folder, but still no dice.

If I show my wife this, I would totally get the go-ahead. Unfortunately, I have nowhere near the budget that McCoy has, so it won't happen. My budget Juke will have to suffice.

Man that thing ROCKS!!! I'm in the process of making one now. I did have one question. How do you plan on mounting the touch screen? On the video, it looks like it's just sitting there on the top. It was dark and kinda hard to see.

Keep up the great work!!

Finally, another update.  I need to get a powerstrip ordered, but that's for another reply.  Anyways, I haven't done much lately because of the touchscreen.  I bought that 19" touchscreen add on for my lcd.  It worked flawlessly decased, but once I put the case back on, it pinched the touchscreen and caused it to not work properly.  Realizing that I would have find a different solution, I went outside and beat my head on a tree.  I just came back in! :banghead:

Seriously, I had only planned on making a simple box to hold the monitor and when I went out to the garage to start cutting and routing, I found the original curved top to the jukebox.  I had unbolted it as I thought it would be too difficult to integrate the touchscreen to it.  I kept looking at it, and an idea just hit me.  I figured if I could make a jig to hold it in place, I could route out the top.  Well, here is the results.  I still need to make the case for the monitor, but I'm quite excited that the routing came out so well.  It should have a very nice finished look to it and may actually fool people into thinking that was how it came.  (Yeah........right!)

Here is the jig I created out of some excess mdf.  I brad nailed it together and clamped it to my table saw once I started routing:

I used my new drill press ( :woot ) to make the two access holes for the cables:

Looks great! I'm looking forward to see how the case for the monitor looks when it's finished. Are you going to keep it simple like a box frame or make a fancy looking photo type frame?

Keep up the great work.

I'm not quite sure yet.  Just like that plastic piece, the environment typically takes over.  I go out to the garage with one idea, and once I get out there, it all hits the fan.  I'm going to try and get the front done tonight.  I imagine that it will be plain though. :-[

Hooray!  I woke up motivated today. :applaud:  I was able to get the front and back of the touchscreen monitor housing built.  I made it out of 1/2" birch.

Here is the front and back ready to be sliced up:

I marked on the inside of the front the bottom lip and then I drew the visible part of the touchscreen on the wood:

Here is the front after I used a jigsaw to rough cut the opening and after I used a flush trim bit to clean it up.  I also sanded the inside edges with 220 sand paper:

I used this 1/2" rabbit bit to counter sink the monitor into the front piece.  I just kind of lucked out that the monitor was 1/2" long on each edge:

Here is the front after the rabbiting:

Next, I used a dado set on the table saw to cut a 5/16" channel around the top and the sides of the front and back to make the box as seamless as possible.  Here are some pics of the setup and the final cut:

Hopefully I can get the box completed tomorrow!

Thanks!  I squared out the corners where the monitor goes today.  I would like to get the sides done tonight if possible.

Just reviewed the whole thread.   Great effects on your juke.  It is too bad we cannot hear the quality of the audio because it has to rock.  Looking forward to the finish in awe.
