Gutting my orignal galaga.
« on: July 17, 2007, 08:53:47 pm »
I hate to do it but I just don't like it anymore, and it's a stupid game any way.

J/K

Actually I'm going to convert it all to JAMMA wiring and new switching power supply and add in a 2 in 1 jamma adapter along with a pacman board and jamma adapter and turn it into a sort of reunion cabinet.   And this is also probably what I'm a do with my cenitpede cabinet and use millipede and centipede in it with jamma adapters.

You don't need to go through that trouble for the Pedes, you can just get a Millipede board converted to a Multipede board.

You're gonna have to cut a proper hole for the joystick and put in a 4-way.

I'm going to fab a new CP, and not mess up to original, because I kinda just recovered it not long a go, I'm going to redo the marquee and control panel side art with the reunion stuff.

Well IDK, cause I already have this one and the art is in pretty good shape so IDK. And I've been wanting to update the power supply anyway, maybe I'll just convert it to jamma and then see where that takes me.

Cool. Makes no difference to me, but if that were my sweet ass Galaga machine - I would be looking for another machine to handle all the other classics. What game is it that your looking to play?

If the Galaga doesn't have much sentimental value for you, they have a real good resale value which would be more than enough to build\convert 1-2 MAME boxes. My last cabinet took me about 2 weeks and $300 to build. It's a (mame)donkey kong machine and looks\plays great.

Nice thing about Galaga cabs, the control panels are very easy and quick to swap. Takes 5 seconds.

Hawk, I have a better Idea.  I'll trade you my empty Ms. Pac cab for the Galaga.  ;D

Seriously though, It's always a shame when a functional cab with historic value gets modified.  Even something as simple as a Jamma conversion.  If the original wiring works why fix it.

Many of us would kill for an original Galaga that works...

So we don't want you to change it...but it's your cab.

With your luck just go to the pawn shop and pick up another cab for $50.  ;)

I'm keeping galaga in it, I'm just going to convert it to JAMMA and add a pac man board, and a jamma 2-1 adapter so that I can select with game I want to play, I'm keeping the pcb, just basically updating the wiring, and the control panel, and marquee. And where is the dude that has the emptry ms pacman cabinet, cause I would slap a jamma harness in there and my ms pacman board and be done with it.

I know it's not that big of a deal but Original is still kinda cool.

And the empty Ms. Pac is mine.  and I do plan on popping a jamma harness in there.

I don't have a Ms. pac board but I do have a spare Galaxian.

I kinda want to find a way to put a LCD in there but we'll see...

...I've been looking at some solutions that will allow me to do just that.

You can add the switching power supply without converting the cab to Jamma.

Go to arcadeshop.com. I got their Galaga enhancement pack and also the Galaga power supply replacement.

I kept my original power supply board, it worked but caused the sound to be scratchy.

I have changed my nickname to "Cakemeister". Please do not PM the Buddabing account because I do not check it anymore.

Please read the wiki!

Yeah but I already have the power supply, and all I would have to do is get a harness, I'd rather have some new wires in there anyway.
