Go to a good art store or sign shop and get yourself some sign vinyl.  I got a piece 30"x36"  for $4.00.  It has an adheasive on the back as well.

Now why didn't I think of that?  But it doesn't have any texture, does it?

Mazzco has black CPOs, for like $17.  http://www.mazzco.com, I think.

The best black cpo I've found is Black Pica vinyl from Happ.  It has a nice texture and is very easy to install because it is pressure sensitive.

Here's a pic of it installed on a control panel.

And it's on sale right now, for only $3.80 a foot!  Nice!

Oscar,
I see that there are two different rolls of vinyl called "Black Pica" on the Happs site.
Is that Ref No. "D" part # 49-0474-10 in your picture on the link?
I wonder how it would look to cover not only the control panel, the the entire cabinet in this stuff...
Is this vinyl prone to curling on the edges?
Thanks in advance for the reply.

Sorry, yes what I have used is the "D" style.

I had zero problems with this stuff.  No curling or lifting at all, and I think it would be next to impossible to get bubbles in it during installation.  Like I mentioned, it is pressure sensitive, so it doesn't seem all that sticky when you peel off the backing.  This allows you to easily reposition it if you need to while you are installing it.  When you have it just where you want it, use a roller or something to press it down good.  It stays put.

It feels just like the real CPO's you remember in the arcade.  I always recommend this covering to anyone not doing the artwork/plexi thing.

Regarding doing your cabinet in it, I don't see why not.  Happ lists this vinyl under the "Vending" section, so I think that's why not many people find it.  Apparently it is used to cover vending or gambling machines, so I would imagine it would work just as well on a cabinet.

Excellent!
This is something to consider rather than using laminate or painting or something to consider if painting goes sour.
I'll definately get a few feet to test on my panels.
Thanks
