Missile Command wonky in 115
« on: July 16, 2007, 04:05:14 pm »
Howdy-

Dumb question:

Missile Command on MAME .115 has messed up graphics--only a few flashing horizontal lines.  The same ROMS running on MAME32 .115u2 looks great.

I see in MAWS: "0.115u1: Aaron Giles fixed corrupt graphics in Missile Command."

I'm pretty well invested in .115 & don't want to update my MAME, lest I mess up who knows how many other games.  Any suggestions or feedback on how to fix this?  Was Missile Command actually messed up until just a few months ago @ release .115u1?

Thanks,
-Jason

There was a regression at some point.

You could always run just missile command with an older version of mame.  Most FEs allow you to do this.

I also just tested MC with mame32 and 115 and I got the messed up graphics-horz lines...  Kinda disappointing as I was settling on 115...

Poopie--I was hoping to avoid having to run multiple MAMEs...  setting this stuff up has already been hard enough for a computer simpleton like myself... :[

Upgrade your roms then....

I don't THINK that it's all that difficult to run different versions of mame (although I've never tried or even seen how).  I'm guessing that all you have to do is download an older version of command line mame, and tell the FE to use that path (to the older mame version) for that one game.  Most likely your roms will be OK with a not too much older version of mame.

Does a minor release like "115u1?" even require rom upgrades? I doubt it.
NO MORE!!

Yup.

For an example, take a look at Bio-Ship Paladin on MAWS: http://www.mameworld.net/maws/   (search for bioship)

It shows the following:
"0.112u2: Guru added clone Space Battle Ship Gomorrah. Fixed rom names and added missing proms ($0, 100, 200 - V-sync hw, H-sync hw and ?) to Bio-ship Paladin. "
