Rotary Joystick Options?
« on: July 15, 2007, 03:18:08 pm »
I've had my cabinet up and running now since January.  I've been collecting pieces of it for years, including an older IPAC for control interfaces and one of Druin's rotary joystick interface boards.

Obviously I'm using a couple of old Happ Ikari Warrior style rotary joysticks.  The 12-position switch on the bottom of both were pretty worn, and I went ahead and replaced both with new rotary switches which feel much better.

Unfortunately, I've never been able to get both working correctly.  I've swapped them both around to troubleshoot and it appears the PCB to generate inputs to the IPAC for rotation is only working for one side.

It does not appear that replacement boards are available....in fact, I can't even find a website that has them listed anymore....anywhere.

What are my options for replacement rotary joysticks that work without the intermediate interface?  What's out there to do this job now?

I would suggest this product from Ultimarc:

http://www.ultimarc.com/rotary.html

At $35, it's not too bad.

Groovy Game Gear also has a rotary interface.

Ahh...excellent....I'd hadn't run across either of these options.  I knew there must be something but couldn't find anything.

Thanks again!
