cutting holes in 1/4" Plexiglass (Not Lexand)
« on: July 09, 2007, 10:30:35 pm »
I was wondering what you would use to to cut through plexiglass, i need to make circles for the buttons/joysticks. I would think a spade bit would make too much of a rough cut for this, maybe a hole saw but if so does it need to he a specific type ?

I have only cut 1/8" but should work the same on 1/4".  I use a forstner bit to drill a pilot hole so I can get my laminate router bit in the hole.  Then I use the hole drilled in the cp (mdf, particle board, ply, etc) to finish the hole and clean up all the melted plexi from drilling.  Just go real slow when you are drilling and make sure your router bit isn't touching the side when you start it.
