TRANSFORMERS: The Movie Review
« on: July 04, 2007, 12:06:54 am »
Just in case anyone was wondering. The movie absolutely rocked. It was freakin kewl in every way, just like when we were kids. Optimus and Megatron are exactly the same as the 80's versions. You guys have to go see this movie if you had any Transformer mania as a youth like I did.

I give it 5 out of 5 stars !!!

You know, back in the good old days our parents hated Transformers like parents of today hate rap music.  Transformers were the culmination of everything wrong with 80's society.

Now it's a P&R thread.

Ahh... yes.

I forgot to mention that I believe Optimus to be a Reagan Republican.

Pffft. Obviously Optimus Prime is a Democrat. Megatron is a more likely candidate for a republican.  :P

Well, since this is in P&R...I was amused how the President Bush character made no decisions the entire movie (other than wanting a Snack Cake) and left everything up to his Secretary of Defense, while the country was being destroyed during an attack by massive, transforming, alien robots.

Pretty true to what might happen in real life, I'd say.   :P

Oh, and Megatron was definitely the Reagan Republican. Aren't all Conservatives thawed out and unleashed upon the world at "birth"?

WTF is a Reagan Republican? Reagan WAS a Republican. The term is Reagan Democrat.
They were Democrats who, among other things, hated seeing their tax dollars spent to support healthy, non-working lowlifes.

PS: Don't really care about the Transformers. Movie does look pretty cool though.

Tok, you've never heard the term, Reagan Republican, as opposed to neoconservatives, just for example?

Hey, this is crazy, the political Transformers thread.  :dizzy:

Well, to get this back on track, I'll agree - the movie really does rock and is hysterical (intentionally so - some great one liners) for the first hour and a half.  There is only a 10 minute segment toward the end that I found both boring and "hokey"....but the rest of this movie is a gem.

This from someone who wasn't even that big a Transformers fan in the 1980s.  I hope it rakes in the dough as this was obviously a labor of love made for the fans....and there's virtually NOTHING to complain about.

some great one liners
I concur.  ;D
Quote
Arcee: I was afraid you'd be trapped outside the city.
Hot Rod: Hey, I wasn't worried for a micro-second.
Arcee: Then you probably didn't understand the situation.

Arcee: Did we have to let 'em detonate three quarters of the ship?
Springer: Seeing as how they would have detonated *four* quarters, I think it was a good choice.

Hot Rod: They're closing on us.
Kup: Yep, like the Shrikebats of Dramedan.
Hot Rod: How'd you beat them?
Kup: I'm trying to remember, there were an awful lot of casualties that day.

Quintesson: Quiet or you'll be held in contempt of this court.
Hot Rod: I have nothing but contempt for this court.
