Double Dragon cabinet purchased for almost nothing once yeilded $30+ in quarters.

King & Balloon mini had no money inside, but did have half a dozen army men in there.

English Mark Darts had several dollar bills in the area that holds the documentation.

Converted Atari cabinet had chewed up star castle monitor plastic and schematics.

Street Fighter 2 cabinet purchased for $60 is notable not because of what it had inside, but because of what it didn't have. Cab was described, as "Worked fine up until a few weeks ago". There was no power supply inside. Replaced that, sold it the next day for $375.

I bought a poker cabinet for my son's Mame machine at auction for 10.00, got it home and found 5.50 in quarters inside

Whee! I used a poker cab for my main mame cabinet as well. Paid $50 for mine. Traded the wiring and boards (and a set of TM 202 monitor boards) for my King & Balloon mini cab. Traded the monitor (along with another 13" monitor, a Skull & Crossbones kit, Lady Bug PCB and some other little parts) for my Jack the Giantkiller cocktail!

Mine Double Dragon II caibnet had only a quarter in it.  The coin counter was relatively low too.

Sometimes coin counters are like the odometer on a really old car. You are never quite sure about how many times they have rolled over. I have one game with 700 on it (My Artic Mini mame), one with 121,000 (Turbo), while my Kangaroo and Jack the Giantkillers are both in the 20,000s, and I think my Assault has 40K on it. Had an import skill slot once with 8 million on the coin counters and my dart machine has 10K on it. Not sure about my pinball, since it only has a software counter that can be reset, but it shows 2700 games, of which 700 were put on by me.

I don't think any of my games have rolled their coin counters, but I wouldn't trust the reading on a Ms. Pac or a Galaga.
