In the book, Saint recommends 2" casters and then states to add some shims to give the casters just a bit more distance from the bottom of the cab.  He doesn't say how far exactly and a search has turned up little.

I bought 2.5" casters and the clearance looks good, but I was wondering if anyone here has experimented with the best height/clearance?  The 3" casters looked WAY too big and I was imaging the cabinet being too high off the floor.

Any comments/opinions will be appreciated.  And while I'm here, I've got my base built and have 1 more question before I continue with the cab.  I'm on hold waiting to find the 1/16" slot cutter for my t-mold slot.  I'm most likely going to have to order it, so I just want to make sure it's 1/16 and not 1/8.  I've read a couple of different sizes and just double-checking before I spend the $.  1/16 or 1/8?

Thanks, All.

Jim

I used 3" casters and they came out perfect.

I used 3" and was also skeptical of the height. My fears were unfounded as 3" seems perfect for my cab. I think 2.5 would allow my cab to drag on the carpet.

I used 3" on mine as well and it worked out fine.  Slot cutter should be 1/16"

Thanks, all... appreciate the confirmation on the slot cutter, too.
