FREE: 25" CGA Dotronix presentation/arcade monitor - in CO
« on: June 18, 2007, 11:55:16 pm »
I have an extra presentation monitor that I don't currently need.  It is a Dotronix DSV25:
http://www.groovygamegear.com/PDF/DSV27monitors.pdf
It's like to the one RandyT sells at his store, but this one is the 25" version.  I used it in my cab for a while, but I've recently gotten a multisync to be able to do 800x600 PC games, so I don't have a use for it.  It has a DB9 connection, and I have a hacked VGA/DB9 cable that works perfectly with it (included) -- one end plugs into the monitor and the other into your PC video card.  You can use an ArcadeVGA card with this, or even the Soft15khz utility for running arcade resolutions on a normal video card.

The monitor itself does have some hours on it.  It came from a media store that went out of business recently.  It could probably benefit from a cap kit, but it still works fine and MAME looks great on it.  Here are a few screenshots I took of it in action:

I wanted to keep it for a possible future project, but I just don't have the room.  So it goes free to anyone that can pick it up locally in Colorado Springs (no way am I shipping this heavy thing unless you want to arrange pickup).  PM me if interested.

If you get to the point of throwing it away, please let me know and I'll take it back.  Hopefully someone else can use it for some project.  I still have five sitting in the garage. :)

Funny!  I am in the Springs for two days!  I am staying at the Braford Homesuites.  How big is this thing?

Let me talk to wifey, I am leaving back to Evans on Thursday.

Hey Clu, thanks I'll let you know if it comes to that.  What did you end up doing with that gigantic shelving unit that these came with?  :P

whatzcrackn: according to the PDF, it's 17.69" H X 23" W X 17.86" D and 87 lbs.
I can't verify at the moment (at work) but those numbers sound about right.

Yeah, that thing was huge.  Me and the owner were able to get it outside the warehouse, and then I just cut it up with the circular saw.  I hated to do it because it was in really nice shape, but I was able to salvage a lot of the wood and make a nice shelf for the garage.

Arc even came out to look at it but said it was too big and heavy for them.  Wimps. ;D

You sure you don't want to ship it?

Well I suppose I could, but I assume the shipping on it would be over a hundred bucks, pretty much negating the great deal on it.
