Pong knob on Oscar Spinner
« on: April 21, 2003, 02:32:57 am »
I have most of a 70s arcade spinner assembly. It isn't a genuine Pong one because the knob is metal.

It looks like the spinner on this game here.

Anyway. I was wondering if that knob could be used with an Oscar spinner (the spinner itself was designed to turn a POT rather than an encoder wheel, otherwise I would be using it as is).

As long as it fits a 1/4" shaft I dont see why not.

Correct.  As long as the knob is designed for a 1/4" shaft and uses some kind of set screw and not a roll pin (like some did), you should be okay.  Some spinners, Blasteroids is one, used an 1/8" shaft and the knob is molded on.

Thanks. I was looking at it more closely, and I can't seem to figure out how to get the knob off. It has a little hole on either side, but it looks to me like you can see right through from one to the other.

I guess I will probably just fork out the bucks for the knob too.
