Depends on the type of screen you have.  The real durable ones have some hefty glass on the front for the touch display.

Also, there is a difference in the power supply for the touch circuit.  I forget the details, but one version lasts a lot longer than other.  I saw something about it on a CarMP3 site, IIRC.

Anyone figure out what the black and red wires are for?  My guess was sound actually since there's something in the ELO properties about beeping and since mine aren't plugged in there's no beeping going on (and since they kind of looks like the generic speaker jumper wire that goes on a motherboard I thought that's what they might be).

My only problem with it is my brightness is set at 100 and i wish it went brighter, it  looks nice except when im running tests on it with my sony laptop (since the display is so much crisper on the laptop), but overall I'm extremely please w/the purchase.

Has anyone tried a mini computer with one of these? http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=3

My touch screen only registers input on the bottom one inch of the monitor.  Hopefully this is fixable.  I can't even run the calibration program because the very first spot you need to click is on the top left.

Any ideas?

Do you have the right drivers?

I believe so.  I am using the Windows 2000/XP/Vista (32 Bit) from http://www.elotouch.com/Support/Downloads/dnld.asp

I'll try reinstalling them and then calling the vendor.

From my experience if part of the screen is dead then the touchscreen is no more. Usually with the drivers it's an all or nothing affair, in that it works or doesn't.

A am also working with someone who is making a black plexi "bezel" for these open frame monitors, and will let you all know when I see one of them.

Any luck with the bezels yet?  I'm now in the process of making the jukebox and need to know if these bezels would be available for sale.  I'm not sure if I want to wall mount the juke and hide the PC or try to make my own bezel and mount the juke with an LCD arm mount.

I'll have to touch base with the guy again.  I went ahead and made a jig to make wooden frames for mine.

They've already sent me 2 defective monitors.  Hopefully, the third time is a charm.  It also takes 3-4 days on average for them to reply to an email.   ???

Finally finished my project with the ELO Touchscreen I bought because of this thread.  You can find more information at http://www.adisweb.com/jukebox

Nice compact juke.  I used an Ikea cabs to build one of my jukes too.

A small fan that vents out the back would help get rid of your heat buildup problem.  It would bring in air from the front and take the heat from your LCD out the back.

Thanks for the comments.  That is exactly what I was thinking about too.  Venting out the back with a fan.  I just need to find a really quiet fan.  I want to keep the noise down since this will be in a living area.
Thanks again!

I think your Juke is great.  ResposibleRecyclers on Ebay are a bunch of jerks though.  They had to send me three monitors before I got one that worked.  On average it took them more than 48hrs to respond to my emails, that is, if they even responded to them at all.  After all my efforts trying to track them down, driving to the post office multiple times to ship back defective monitors that they didn't even bother to test, and being ignored numerous times over email, I left them a neutral feedback on ebay.  Out of spite, they left me negative feedback.

I am always nervous ordering stuff off of EBAY.  Especially high dollar items.  The only reason I took the plunge on the ELO Touchscreen is cause of all the good reviews people were giving here on the forum.  Sorry to hear you are having difficulties.  Your story continues to make me nervous dealing with EBAY.
