Someone with a SlikStik (or knows about them) answer this!
« on: June 15, 2007, 01:37:03 pm »
First, I know a lot of you guys hate SS, this is not the place to post your stories about them please.  I have many cabs and decided I wanted one of these as well and like many things for many different reasons, as we all do.  OK, on to the questions!  I haven't gotten the CP yet and haven't unboxed the cab yet so here are some questions I want answered before I do.

1.  I'm getting the standard 4 way stick that comes on these.  Is there an easy ball top replacement for this stick?  If not, what stick will fit on the same spot without needing new holes?

2.  Do the coin returns light up on this cab?  If not I want to use some of divemasters LEDs he sells to light them up, but I am not sure what color to get, if I need additional wiring and how to power said LEDs.  Can anyone post this info?

3.  After I have assembled this thing, I will be moving (yeah yeah, I'm in the military, it's just par for the course) so I want to know if it is easy to take apart down the the shipping level, or just into large pieces.  Can I use the same boxes it came in to repack it?

Thanks a ton for answers in advance guys!

As far as the LED goes, you can wire it to take power right from your CPU power supply. If I am not mistaken, there is a harness that just plugs into one of the spare plugs from your PSU

If you want a ball top replacement, they are everywhere. However, if you want, SlikStik sells them and they have some pretty cool ones.

I have a slikstik, you will have to make a wire harness to light the coin door inserts, i made one for my coin door then ran it to my speakers, ran three blue led's around each speaker then to the power button then into the computer worked like a charm
dm
I carry both ultimarc & happ items, all brand new & I ship from the united states. My online store is ARCADEEMULATOR.NET, pm if I can help in anyway.

I guess you could dismantle it. I'd ship it. Doesn't TMO (or whatever it's called relative to your branch - and what branch is it, by they way?) handle ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- like that?

OK guys, let me reply to these:

1.  TMO is for all the branches I think.  I'm AF, and yes but having shipped 10 arcade games in the past, I'd rather break it down and have it wrapped/boxed than risk the corners and sides getting killed.

2.  The LED thing sounds perfect, but I still don't know what I would need to buy to get it to happen.  Plug for the PSU?  Harness?  Is that something I can buy or what?  Sounds great, but can you shoot me a link?

3.  Ball tops.  Yeah I know SS sells them, but they charge a nut ton for them and I don't want fancy light up ones or metal ones.  I want a nice big fat red or blue one.  What is a drop in replacement for that stick?  Link or part number would help me order one from DN or PB.

Thanks guys.

Those ball tops are common. PM ponyboy, perhaps. For sure, check out the BST forum, thread - vendors.

Back on TMO: well, I've heard they're murderous on things. In this case, bubble-wrap and cover it with cardboard yourself. Hell, get a palette and put it on there yourself so's all they have to do is lift and place it.

If you can call a wire a harness, sure.

No link....I saw them at my local electronic store...anywhere that sells electronic parts should carry what you need. Also, any computer shop that deals in case modding should carry that sort of thing too.

Also....try ultimarc or a company called "Gremlin"http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/. They should have balltops that fit your need

Thanks for the tips guys.  I emailed PB about the ball top, but no answer yet.  Do you know what model of 4 way is used in the SS cab?

As for the LEDs I ordered 3 from DM (1 in case I burn it out by accident) and so I will need to figure a way out to attach it.

If anyone has pics of their design, please post!

I think SlikStik uses comps or supers, stock. For lighting, search in the project thread, maybe also the wiki, and I'm sure google will find things.

whatever you do, stay away from Slikstik's chrome stick handle. It is WAY too heavy
