Coin doors : did I get a good deal?
« on: June 03, 2007, 06:59:55 pm »
Bought three of these on ebay - $29 shipped for all three.  Surprised that I was the only one to bid on them.  Will use them for a cocktail cabinet and a jukebox.  Seems to include the coin mechanisms and everything I need, or am I missing something?

I don't think there very popular.  I see them on eBay all the time with no bids.

Good luck mounting those. I hope you have a lot of time on your hands. These are manufactured to be placed inside a specific hole cutout in a wood panel or metal door. I hope you like lots of sawing/drilling/filing.

If installing in a metal door with a cutout hole and you have to do filing, be sure to temporarily remove the coin acceptor and set it aside some place safe. The reason is that all the metal shavings/filings will stick to the magnet causing coin jams.

I think it's a pretty decent deal. They look to be these guys, Happ still sells them, here's the mounting info in case you haven't looked it up yourself yet: http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/40002300p_exploded.htm

Considering one of these sells for $25 new, I'd say $29 for 3 of them is pretty good.

Thanks for the feedback guys.  I'm going to be mounting them in a wooden panel, so I think I will make a router template for the cutout.

Stuckpixel - yes, those are them.

I wish you would have bought a few more at that price to sell cheap here...I could use one for my future jukebox.
