I Just want to share...
« on: May 31, 2007, 03:15:04 pm »
Hi

I'm "new" to this forum.  I just registered a couple of days ago but i have been lurking around the messageboard for almost a whole year gathering information for my MAME arcade cabinet.

Just wanted to share my jukebox setup with the rest of you.

I use Silverjuke (http://www.silverjuke.net) as my jukebox software. Silverjuke works really great with touch screen monitors.

I have attached a couple of pictures of my setup.

The 15" touch sensitive monitor is from a danish company called eyegonomic. I don't think the company exist anymore.

Below be monitor, in the bookshelf, you can see the small mini-itx system (white cube) running Win2k + Silverjuke.

The speakers are made by Bang & Olufsen (yet another danish company). The speakers are active => no amplifier needed between the PC and the speakers.

For looks, all the cables are embedded in the walls.

Very nice.  I like the clean look and I think it is always a good thing to hide all the cabling.  Excellent work.

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Is that the original frame that came with that monitor or is that something you made or bought?

The monitor was bought with that frame.

One of the main reason for buying that specific monitor was that it had a good looking frame.

Basically i just lowered a string / wire down through the channel in the wall an attached the cables to it. It was then a matter of pulling the string back up.

Important: Make the entry / exit hole big enough to allow the stiff cables (eg. monitor cable) to bend properly.

I'll see if i can find some pictures of the whole process of embedding the cables in the wall.

Very nice.

I ended up with a Silverjuke based setup with a 17" touchscreen in the end. Currently trying to build it into a single frame, although I like your approach.

I spent ages trying various programs, and also tried to avoid windows (purely for bootup times) but in the end silverjuke's performance for large (=very large) collections on a lowly epia processor left most of the others for dust.

I also found a heavily stripped version of xp to be about as fast as it gets on boot up.

I really like your approach,  something I never thought about,  I would like to know some details,  I have a 1 project I have posted on here for my MAME machine,  if you search for my name you can see it in new projects.  But now I am interesting in doing a jukebox and this is exactly the type of look I am going for.

Where is the computer actually at?
What are the specs on the computer you used?
What type, model, etc touchscreen did you use and where did you buy it?
How much was the touchscreen?

Thanks, and great work!!!

This is exactly the same type of theme that I'm looking to build, a clean classy modern design.  Does anyone know of projects that have a "contemporary" type of design?

Thanks for sharing, I didn't know a monitor with that type of border existed, I've been looking into getting a stainless steel custom cut.

Yes it is a fine border.

The Aluminium border was one of the main reasons for buying that specific monitor. Unfortunately the company that made it doesn't exist any more.

The danish company IPOS: http://ipos.co3.dk manufactures some nice touch screen monitors.

I've got a few more questions (hopefully you're still around!).

How is the performance of your mini-itx machine?  I'm building one right now and would like to have a fanless setup but I'm afraid that those specs will run really slow (even if it's just silverjuke).  I tried silverjuke in an older laptop and I wasn't satisfied with it's performance (it was on w2k).

Hi, sorry for digging such an old subject. I just bought the same display: EYEGONOMIC 15"
MODEL T15
with touch surface. it basicly has 3 signal cables, 1 is the power, 2 is the VGA signal and 3 is the RS232 for touch  interface.

Since the company doesnt exist for a quite long time, I would like to ask You (RAZOR) if You still have those drivers for this monitor touch interface.
There are no info at the internet, no driver database, nothing. Just trying google for 2 days without any result and finally got here.

Big sorry if i make any trouble, I tried to send a PW to RAZOR, but i propobly dont have that kind of permissions (just registered) adn so that i didnt have any other option with contact.

Big big thanks for Your help.

PS this screen is for my little project, it is suppose to work with my ITX ION ZOTAC.

thanks
Darek

EDIT:

OK finally after 3 days of searching, wayback web archive helps me, and on the manufacturer website in the faq section from 2006 i found a solution, it tels that touching interface in all of their screens are from Inotouch.

Great for me, that company still exists!!

if somewhone in the future would need those drover i suggest to go to the downjload section:

http://www.inotouch.co.kr/new_eng3j/sub04_01.html

And choose apropriate driver for your system.

Many thanks and big sorry if i made any trouble for the site mod's od admin.

Cheers
Darek
