How could I turn this image into sideart?
« on: May 24, 2007, 08:17:48 am »
Whats the best mechanism to print this for sideart?  I have a black painted cab and would love to spice it up a notch.  But I'm not sure the best way of converting an image (with color depth).

here is the image

Any ideas?

First off, you would need to contact the author and try to acquire a high resolution version. A small jpeg cannot be blown up to full side art size. Maybe you'll have luck, who knows?

Alternately, that would be easy to recreate yourself in an appropriate size.  A couple good cut/pastes, change the death star to yellow, cut the wedge out, etc.

Yeah,  I considered just recreating it by hand... concept was more the fun part...  Didn't seem like a hard photoshop... and I can find good high quality deathstar images.

But the question is what type of printing should I use.  The ways I've done it in the past really only worked well with a few colors.  And this is really only 3 colors, so the color depth for each is really important.

IE...

Whats the best way to print photo quality color depth to use for side art?  (that wont cost an arm and a leg).

I'm guessing that I will 10" x 10" would be fine in size.

And I'm more then willing to go on the cheap for an almost good enought job.  Its for my internal machine taht already has a bunch of non-nice cosmetic issues.

Maybe scrap you idea and just use this picture on your cab for sideart

I'd say just send it out to someone like MameMarquees.  10" by 10" is a quick job.
