It seems pointless to investigate a rotating monitor setup in my cab unless I am sure that my chosen video card can support such a setup. So, to that end, can someone confirm that the ArcadeVGA card can do both horizontally and vertically oriented gaming?

Which is to say, can someone confirm it can do vertically oriented pictures, since I would assume it does horizontal :P

Cheers.

Just read the site (again). It mentions vertical games on horizontal monitors, but nothing about vertical monitors. Or did I miss it again.

You can rotate the orientation with the AVGA.

Anubis....it ain't the card, but the emu.

A little simplistic, but so long as the card supports the resolution/frequency in question and the emulator can handle the rotation, things should work fine.

Bottom line for Anubis_au -- I have two cabs with AVGA/MAME that both run in the vertical orientation, with one also running horizontal (3-sided cocktail).

Cheers

Boy do I feel like an idiot, reading some of these responses...

I guess I thought it was a driver issue because, to get Windows displaying on a rotated monitor, the driver has to support it. So, I thought that for rotated MaLa / MAME, it still came down to the video card driver in Windows... when, as people say, its a function of the emu itself...

Anyway, good to know it can do what I want... now I can start investigating how and if I'd manage to have a rotating monitor in a lowboy...

What if you come out of that emu though. Then the screen will be sideways.

I'm by no means an expert on FEs, but I recall reading somewhere that in Mala (my choice for FE) has the option of shutting down the pc when exiting (with a Are you sure? type stage) so I don't plan to be in Windows... or exit goes to sleep mode, and wakes up straight to the FE.... you can shell the FE and never see windows unless you need to.

Yeah. That and you can rotate Windows.
