He was raping pit bulls?  That's hardcore.

Not really.  That's what the drug-dealing was for.  To get 'em in the mood.

The funny thing is that no one ever seems to care that this whole thing was discovered by accident when the cops exercised a warrant looking for drugs.  One of these guys was arrested for dealing and they were looking for his supply.  So not only were they dogfighting they were drugdealing out of this place... but I guess that doesn't matter.

And now it comes out that Vick's been doing this for some time - allegedly out of his parent's garage, according to the estranged father.....who also asked for 700,000 from his wealthy son.

Now obviously dear old dad is enjoying heaping on.  Yet one has to wonder (or I do)  - how deep does this go?  If dear old Dad stays in that kind of bind, could he have been the one who actually got Vick into dogfighting to begin with (a gambling ring out of the garage)?  Is he still doing it? etc.

The NAACP can holler all they want to about stop heaping on poor old Mike Vick....rich old Mike Vick did this to himself, and he is one sick messed up dude.

Michael Vick's father said he pushed his son to quit dogfighting years ago or, at least, put property used for the fights in the name of friends to avoid being implicated some day.

Michael Boddie, in two sometimes tearful interviews with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution this week, said some time around 2001 his son staged dogfights in the garage of the family's home in Newport News, Va. Boddie also said Vick kept fighting dogs in the family's back yard, including injured ones – “bit up, chewed up, exhausted” – that the father nursed back to health.

Boddie, who is estranged from his son, dismissed the idea that Vick's longtime friends were the main instigators of the dogfighting operation.

“I wish people would stop sugarcoating it,” Boddie said. “This is Mike's thing. And he knows it.”

He “likes it, and he has the capital to have a set-up like that.”

An attorney for Vick did not return requests for comment. Neither did Vick's mother, Brenda Vick Boddie, who hasn't lived with her husband for the past five years.

Boddie said he and the Atlanta Falcons quarterback have had a volatile relationship for years and that his son has refused to speak with him directly for the past two and a half months. Boddie said he is speaking out because he's been hurt by his son and wife's failure over the years to correct what he considers inaccurate media reports that Vick grew up without his father present.

“I've been drug through the mud,” Boddie said.

He said he intends to write a damaging book about more of what he knows.

Boddie, 45, lives in a Duluth, Ga., apartment that his son has paid the rent on for the past three years. Vick, who has a $130 million contract with the Falcons, also gives him a few hundred dollars every week or two, the father said.

Boddie wanted more. Two years ago, he said, he asked Vick for $1 million, spread out over 12 years, enough to keep him comfortable for the rest of his life. Vick declined, the father said. In recent weeks, Boddie asked Vick, through an assistant, for $700,000 to live on.

Boy with a role model like that, it's no wonder the Vick brothers have turned out so well... ::)

So, he buys property, buys the dogs, pays to have the dogs trained, supplies ALL of the gambling money... but DOES NOT bet himself or accept any proceeds from bets!! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Damn he is a nice guy to be so charitable isn't he...or else his dogs suck so bad that they never won a fight. ;D Last I checked, win or lose, if you put the money on the line you are GAMBLING.

I can just see the prosectutors holding back a smirk when he signs the perjured plea deal. I bet they already have the transaction records showing he accepted money somewhere along the line.

I doubt that.  He's so stupid he probably is still sticking to the ghetto code and won't turn anything over.

I think he won't admit to gambling because running a gambling ring gets an automatic lifetime ban from the NFL.

Tommy, no pun intended, but it's a matter of playing the odds.

What other clichés can I come up with?

- Where there's smoke, there's fire

- If it looks and smells like ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- . . .

- When you've been federally indicted and entered a plea of guilty . . .

Well, that last one maybe not.  But come on.

The facts of the case are on the table, and by the admission of all indicted, they are then solidified as facts. It doesn't get much clearer than that, and there is no opinions involved.

Tell me what the facts are. Tell me what's been proven exactly and how you know it's been proven. Is it proven because others involved in the case are trying to save their ass and everything is based on them pointing their finger at him. Pleading guilty does not mean he is guilty, it's just a way to get it all over with fast.

But again, i'm just putting up an argument for the sake of it, i do not care if he did it or not.

Nothing wrong with a decent conversation if a few guys here could do it without acting like fools about it.

His admission is proof.  If you don't even believe the words out of his mouth than you are never going to believe it happened.

We know it happened because he says it happened.

Well, it's not necessarily.  He could be pleading to a lesser charge because it looks so bad for him and if it goes to trial the prosecutors will try him on far worse charges and it's better to cop to the lesser charge than take the chances of an unsympathetic jury.

On the other hand, don't be ridiculous, he's guilty.

Re:Tommy - I'm pretty sure I already stated the facts I know about the sleazebag earlier on in the thread when I mentioned that I used to work for the Virginia Tech police department. Anyway, as Shardian and Chad have pointed out, he's admitted to it. If you really think that he went with the plea bargain instead of a trial because he was getting the shaft for being black/famous/whatever, then you're a piece of work.

I know he said and had to admit to some degree of guilt, that's how it goes when you take a deal no matter if you did anything or not.

If these 3 "friends" did not try to sell him out and only try to protect their own ass this would have gone to trial. Now with 3 guys saying they all were there and vick is the mastermind he has no chance. That does not mean what they say is true, but it is really too hard to ignore either way.

The only thing really in question is whether he did in fact bet on the dogs, or in fact personally killed them. He does in fact own the house in question. He most definitely was supplying the money for the operation. The Bad Newz Kennels was his company. The sole purpose of the Kennel was to breed Pit Bulls. These facts have nothing to do with his guilty plea, as they are concrete facts based on records. We do not know the specific details of what concrete proof the feds have against Vick regarding the gambling and killings, but it is a pretty safe conclusion that they do in fact have concrete evidence implicating him. They definitely have enough evidence that he can be placed at the scene and he was in fact well aware of what was going on at the property.
The facts are the facts, and they speak for themselves.

Okay, if you won't believe the three accomplices, how about the several other witnesses they have in line that aren't charged?  Or his own father

Or how about the fact that he lied directly to the face of the NFL Commissioner when the guy was trying to cut him a fair shake?  He told Goodell that he didn't even know the place was fighting dogs.

You don't understand what i'm saying. That may have not been a lie, just because he has to go back on that now and admit it, it may only be from the plea deal and he would have to say these things to take the deal now. ]

He has to admit guilt now no matter what, so the lie may be that he is admitting guilt for nothing, if anything.

Everyone already has their mind up about Vick and there is nothing anyone can do to fix that, no matter what. Too bad your minds being made up already are only base on bad feelings about dogs being killed by someone and we do not know who did it.

That may have not been a lie, just because he has to go back on that now and admit it, it may only be from the plea deal and he would have to say these things to take the deal now.

He has to admit guilt now no matter what, so the lie may be that he is admitting guilt for nothing, if anything.

So you cannot be convinced.  I get the feeling that if you saw him doing these things you'd be saying "well, he may not be doing them, he could be acting and I just don't see the camera crew".

Can you honestly tell me that you know for a FACT that Vick killed dogs. Isn't it at all possible that the other3 guys did it instead?

Not that he killed them, not yet, as that hasn't been proven in court.  We do know he did many of the things he has been accused of... he has admitted to them in court and lying about it, for any reason, would be felony perjury.  It still stands to be proven that he actually killed any dogs himself, and we'll have to see if that ever gets a day in court.  I think it will as his plea won't satisfy the people that want to see him punished.

The Falcons are going after $22mil of his bonus money now... so, in the grand scheme of things, being banished from the NFL, losing all of his future earnings, and most of his past earnings is a much larger punishment than going to jail for 18 months.

I will kindly refer you to my previous statement of facts. Please at least read what people are saying to you. In my previous statement, I did say that to the publics knowledge, there is no conclusive evidence that he personally killed the dogs. However, in his statement of facts he indirectly admitted to being responsible for killing the dogs.

Your argument that "he is being setup" and is only pleading guilty because he knows he screwed is extremely flawed. Have you been following the same news story for the last year or so as the rest of us?
I guess that we all just need to bow out of this thread since we are chasing Tommy while he runs in a circle like a ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?--- against the rules of the sign. ;D

tommy isn't saying he's being set up - he's saying that there is the possibility that he's just copping out to avoid going to jail for longer, even though he did nothing, because there is no other way for him.

Of course, that's all crap, he did these things and has been doing them for years.  There are too many people piling on with witness accounts.
