Has anyone ever seen a Last Starfighter game, either real or a prop-made cab?

I don't think it was ever a real game but a couple of people here have built replica cabs based on the design.

Aha! I knew it was somewhere. According to this, the original prop was destroyed

But there is a replica used in the documentary and the site did get a hold of it and released dimensions.

Other than that, there's twiddly. No Hi-res scans of the art. No photos of the actual cab. Nothing.

You could make one, as I know there is a game for the Atari 800....

There is indeed an Atari 8 bit game, and IIRC it was known under two different names. (I'm hoping I'm not mixing it up with StarRaiders though.)

  • What does this button do??

yeah sadly the only one that did exist was in the film and it was destroyed (as said above)

The game was developed a small amount but was never finished and is probably buried in an Atari data vault somewhere as I believe they own it.

If you search these forums on on the net you will however find a remake of the game which is pretty darned good, and there was a guy on this forum who was building what looked like it was going to be a good machine (I lost the thread so ever saw how it got) but he had an awesome last starfighter startup screen and background :D

You're thinking of Star Raiders 2:

I just downloaded the Last Starfighter game this person made and it is pretty cool.   Need to practice a bit to get the handle of steering the ship and moving the turret.   Pretty neat though.   Good effort.    Might throw this on my cabinet to play with my Star Wars yoke .....
