Coin door confusion
« on: May 10, 2007, 12:41:19 pm »
I would like to include a working coin door (2 player) in my cab.  I'm really confused by Happ's website.  I can't tell by the descriptions if they come with everything I need (and their technical support is even worse than the website)

Can someone recommend the HAPP part numbers I need that will give me a complete working coin door?

Thanks!
My current collection:  Arkanoid^3, Asteroids Deluxe, Centipede, Donkey Kong w/DIIK, Frenzy w/Berzerk multi, Galaga, Galaxian, Gyruss, Mappy,  Missile Command, Multi-Williams, O'Boyles Arcade (Mame), Pac-man,  Sinistar, Star Wars, Tempest, War Gods

I can not, however, finding a nice complete coin door on Ebay is fairly easy and a heck of a lot cheaper than buying everything through Happs.

A little black spray paint, new coin inserts and some locks, these would be great cheap doors:

However, if you absolutely need to buy everything new from Happs then at least order through "ponyboy" or "divemaster".  They both deal in obtaining parts from Happs for cheaper than buying direct and are well known in the BYOAC community.

Depends on what style you want, but a fairly standard 2 person over/under coin door is: 40-0038-00

I definitely agree with checking ebay or Pony/Dive in the trader's forum ... you'll save lots of $$.

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but I'd hit eBay too. With a door that's not dented or bent and a can of spray paint, you can have a door that looks like new for less than 20% of the cost of a new Happ door.

Thanks for the advice.  What are your thoughts on this one:

Looks like everything I would need.  A little more than some of the auction items, but it looks like it doesn't need any clean up.

Looks fine.  I'm not sure what the additional sound wiring he has on there is, but as long as it is working it should do the trick for you.

You might want to email the seller and confirm whether it is set up to take quarters, tokens, or something else.

Seems like a lot of money to me ....

IF you do not want to do any work and save money ..... it seems like this one will do for half the price:

http://cgi.ebay.com/OVER-UNDER-VIDEO-GAME-COIN-DOOR-STRAIGHT_W0QQitemZ190112057311QQihZ009QQcategoryZ13718QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I guess I am not sure if the light bulbs work, but those a extremely cheap to replace.    Seems like nice inserts and no paint required on this one ....

... however, which ever door you end of wanting/getting, as long as it suits you, then that is all that matters ......

You don't have to limit yourself to over/under doors either. This one isn't bad.

Or if you like the over/under's how about this one. Personally, I've always been a bit put off by shipping to/from Canada, but for that price...

Due to the weight of these things make sure you figure in the shipping cost. Then again, you pretty much have to do that anymore for most anything on eBay.
