Best way to wire Ipac? Solder?
« on: May 09, 2007, 05:59:34 pm »
Here is the deal, i wired my controls to an Ipac and for some reason some of the buttons when I press once, they register twice, so if i want to punch, it will punch twice instead of once.

i did the "twist" method, and I am wondering if soldering is the best way?

Maybe you have a faulty iPac?  Soldering is completely unnecessary.  Strip the wire tips and screw them down to the iPac.  I use .187 female quick disconnects to wire the microswitches - no soldering required.

maybe.  yesterday it seemed ok, however i pulled out the joystick to rewire it and perhaps some wires got disloged.

its a B to go back in and rewire because of how the cab is made, i just wanted to make sure before i do that.

If you are talking the switch end then you need to do more than twist the wire.

Suggest solder or

They are quick disconnects.
You crimp them on to the end of your wires, and then they just push onto the tabs on the microswitches.
When you need to put in a new switch, you can quickly disconnect the wires, and replace the switch.

I had this problem a while back and it turned out to be microswitch 'bounce'.  You can test this by taking a switch that doesn't exhibit the double behavior and swap it with a 'suspect' switch.  If it stops double-pressing, then it's likely the switch.

so do i strip the wires, put them in a hole and then crimp it?

also if i am daisy chaining do i twist 2 together and then crimp?

What Chad means is that you have a female connector there in the photo.

The male connector is on the microswitch.

Now, if you paid attention in sex-ed then you'll know what to do next to make everyone happy :)

What game are you playing? I'm asking because some capcom (most actually) games have what's called "negative edge". The game registers a press as you press the button of course, but it also registers it as a press upon releasing the button.

It's 9am. I'm calling it a nite.

I think Chad had a different meaning, but I'll let it go at that . . .

It just occurred to me that there was a discussion on the meaning of the Word of Chad and I interrupted it.

Carry on.

Not since the 2000 election.
